Many col- lege bound students take two years of either Spanish or German to meet col- lege requirements. Spanish I students learn the basic fundamentals of Spanish through drills and short conversations. In Spanish ll the students use the con- cepts they learn in Spanish I to make more detailed conversations and to write and translate essays. Students in the German class not only learn the basics of the German language, but also about the histories and cultures of German speaking countries. P. E. stresses physical fitness Several changes have been made in the Physical Educa- tion Department this year. Since the introduction of the Quarter System students are required to take five trimesters of P. E. To fill the five trimesters many new courses such as archery, handball, and gymnastics have been added to the curriculum. Two new teachers have also been added. Miss Cindy Ramos works with girls P. E. and Coach George Byerly with the Boys P. E. TOP Timothy Saddler, Steve Smith, and Mario Garza play handball in P. E. BOTTOM Girls in the fifth period P. E. class play speedball, a com- bination of basketball and baseball.
