ln an effort to bring about a more complete girl's sports program, a girls track team was initiated this year. The newly organized girl's track team was filled with spirit in hopeful anticipa- tion of a good season. The team was coached by Fred Boone. A lot of time and effort was put into the prepara- tion for competition. Workouts were held each day after school. The workout sessions included warm-up drills and drills for endurance, form, and speed. One objective of the ses- sion was for every girl to become ver- satile in athletics. Track makes most of season meets The members of the boys' track team could be seen prac- ticing each day long after everyone else 7. ad left. The boys worked out every day during sixth period and after school im- proving on their different skills involved in track. Along with working on their skills, the boys did numerous exercises plus running cross-country mile runs. RIGHT Coach Trent Phipps gives Tommy Parkhurst some advice on throwing the shot-put.
