Do you remember that foggy, gray morning ot Sept. I5, 1952, when we met 'For the first time? lt was -on the bleachers and we both were among the 290 new sophomores ot Devilville. The enthusiastic crowd exhibited such a display ot spirit and loyalty that each ot us became eager to participate. This was the awalrening moment when we realized the desire to be recognized as a Red Devil. Ot course, we were reluctant andxtimid to ioin the crowd under the pressure of the upperclassmen. The seni-ors were our ideals and to become one was a dream. By the time we were ready to engage in our junior year our dream came closer lto reality. But it wasn't until passing English, history, drivers ed., hygiene, and,,P. E. that it was a sure thing. Then, sure enough, Sept. I3, l954, rolled around and tor the tirst time in the new Sweetwater Gym, we, the Class ot '55, became otticial owners ot the Senior B yell. The enthusiasm and eagerness we showed as sophomores was tar excelled by that we displayed as seniors. During our Senior Year we etched our names in the permanent records ot Sweet- water. The job we did in public spealcing, journalism, tootball, baslcetball, traclc. baseball, ottice training, song and cheerleading. editing the Su-l-li News or worlring on its statt, producing the annual, participating in the Senior Play, leading the band or marching as head majorette, has made our class one which Sweetwater will l-ong remember. U The precious memories of ditch day, the Prom, Vespers. the Senior Assembly, and the final Graduation Ceremony, will remain with us always. These events marlc the end .of our childhood. The rays to our lamp continue to glow brightly with the expectation ot our suc- cess tor tomorrow.
