Foreword One of the first steps in the erection of a new building is the pouring of a solid foundation. Similarly, one of the first tasks of a student is to construct a foundation con- sisting of knowledge and critical thinking. The contrac- tor goes on to erect a home or an office or a factory, the student proceeds to build his own future. During the past year, masons added additional new bricks to our school, we students should have added to our own characters different types of bricks f bricks representing the inquiring mind, the search for knowledge, and the ability to think. Learning is a continuous processg but it is conceiv- able that one fact learned in elementary or high school might prove to be the one thing that will help to decide a student's career. Too few students realize the importance of education until it is too late. As builders use mortar to hold bricks together, we students should use the facts we have learned and ideas we have formed to build a solid wall of knowledgef' Our 'Neg ability to relate facts and ideas to everyday problems is what will give the wall of knowledgen its strength and value. To insure a strong and durable future we must pro- vide a strong foundation, and this can only be done by hard work and a persistent determination to push on - always looking forward to more and better things. Today, the success of a school depends upon the sup- port given to it by parents and taxpayers. It is only through their help that we can ever hope to receive the guidance and direction needed during our formative years. There is very little that we can do materially to thank them for their help, but can go on and become the leaders of our community - the doctors, lawyers, factory workers, and teachers.
