'sinf- Our first yearbook is dedicated to DR. CLARENCE SMITH, Administrative Assistant in charge of Sweet Home's expanded building program. Dr. Smith's chief interests have always been the welfare and education of young people. A graduate of Syracuse Uni- versity and possessor of a Doctor of Education degree from the University of Buffalo, Dr. Smith first became principal of a small high school at Fabius, N. Y. He later held the po- sition of principal successively at New Berlin and Greene, New York. At Greene, Dr. Smith instituted a course in agriculture and taught it for the first year or two. At that time, also, Dr. Smith developed an interest in Farm Bureau work, and he left his position with the public schools to become the Farm Bureau Agent of Chenango County, at Norwich, N.Y. However, Dr. Smith's interest in young people never left him, and eventually he returned to the public schools as principal of Cassadaga High School, in Chautaqua County. Subsequently, he gave many years of service as District Super- intendent of the Sixth Supervisory District of that county. Eventually Dr. Smith left his position as District Super- intendent to become Professor of Education at the University of Buffalo, where he remained until his retirement. The students of Sweet Home District are proud to have Dr. Clarence Smith serving them, and they are proud to dedi- cate this yearbook to him in recognition of his unstinting and devoted efforts in the field of education. 5 Dedication Dr. Clarence Smith if 4,,,,,..
