Then there were the cks, the rednecks, and ome less prominent sub- roups called preppies and unks. lt really didn 't matter what you were as long as you belonged. Sweeny students reflected the 1980's in everything from the food they ate to the clothes they wore, and from the cars they drove to the music they listened to. We grouped not out of human frailty, but out of human strength. ln groups we spoke with a louder voice. ln groups we searched within ourselves for more understanding and pushed ourselves to previously unimagined lengths. We suffered and rejoiced, sometimes with friends, but more often, alone. Few of us feel that we do not own a part of this school. The feeling of possession wasn't instan- taneous, but took years of association, growth and understanding to secure its roots. PEOPLE were the best part about us.
