THE CLASS OF '45 The class of '45 departs, With joy, yet sorrow in their hearts: We've had a lot of fun in school, And still we learned the golden rule. Our freshman year was tough and long, Our sophomore year smooth as a song, Our junior year was kind of rough, But we got through and didn't blulf. Our senior year is nearly past, It just llew by so awfully, fast: We've really had a lot of fun, We'll hate to see our school days done. Our teachers were so kind and true, They very seldom made us blue, They helped to keep us in our place, We worked together lace to face. But now we'l1 have to say adieu, And hope your days are happy, too, So long, dear friends, and teachers true, We've got a real big job to do. DOROTHY SPEESE 77am Many, many years ago, It almost seems that long, you know, A crowd of boys, a group of girls, Gazed at a building frightened as squirrels. The grade school days had drawn nigh For our class of Swatara High. Gay salutes from far and near To old classmates, oh so dear, The sound of a bell, a stern teacher's voice, Soon caused us to wonder why we reioiced. But the days, weeks, and months speedily went For all the young ladies, and even the gents. There were many ups and downs, mostly up, To those patient teachers should go a cup. Enter to Learn in our ears is still ringing, In harmony with Leave to Serve and our singing So now from our school days we will go Toward the light of the future--see it glow! CHARLOTTE SMEE Our High School days were happy days, That we will not forget. The teachers, students, and the school, We leave with sad regret.
