coMMERc1AL CLUB This photograph introduces the new department, which was just opened Novemher 7, l923, in the Swatara Township High School. Owing to the growing demand for high school graduates to enter in the commercial field, the Board of Education awakened to this fact and learned upon investigation that such a course could be introduced into the high school with very little effort and expense. After three monthls of intensive and diligent. work the typewriting class reached a point of etticiency that they could write all the material in this year's Swatter, beside all extra typewriting for the school. More than that, there are members of the shorthand class who are now handling the office corre- spondence with accuracy. V A Just a word in passing' with reference to our bookkeeping section. At the rate we are grasping' the fundamentals of elementary bookkeeping, that if given a wider scope, Swatara. It is the desire and honest wish of this year's commercial class to make such an impression upon the school and community that from now on, the commercial department may receive the ear'nest support of the community at large. l VVe, this yearls commercial class, hope that as Alumni, we may soon return to find that a neweVocational IIigheSehool with a fully equipped four year commercial department, teaching' bookkeeping, commercial aritlunetic, com- mercial law, and commercial geography, shorthand, spelling, typewriting and a. few months of practical otiice practice.
