AGRICULTURE CLUB J BIEMBERS Balsbaugh, Clair Aungst, Norman Bishop, Booser Eshenaur, Roy Yeager, George Laudenslager, Glen Hocker, Blaine Erb, Hoffman Ebersole, Wilbiir Stazewski, John Ebersole, Christian Hadley, Harry The'Agricultural class was organized in the fall of 1919, under the super- vision of Mr. B. H. Engle. The class meets for an eighty-minute period once a Week. The class is given instruction along the various phases of agricultural work. During the preceeding years the class studied a more generalized course, but this year the course is narrowed down to one specific subject, Poultry. Our class has turned out boys who have judged on the champion Pennsyl- vania teams. One of our boys went to St. Louis a.nd another to Chicago with the Pennsylvania Livestock Judging Teams. 'The class has not met regularly since the middle of January, owing to the resignation of Mr. Engle as Vocational Agriculture Supervisor. VVe believe that the class has done niueh good in the community. The aim of the class is to better the materials and methods now used in agriculture. -27-

coMMERc1AL CLUB This photograph introduces the new department, which was just opened Novemher 7, l923, in the Swatara Township High School. Owing to the growing demand for high school graduates to enter in the commercial field, the Board of Education awakened to this fact and learned upon investigation that such a course could be introduced into the high school with very little effort and expense. After three monthls of intensive and diligent. work the typewriting class reached a point of etticiency that they could write all the material in this year's Swatter, beside all extra typewriting for the school. More than that, there are members of the shorthand class who are now handling the office corre- spondence with accuracy. V A Just a word in passing' with reference to our bookkeeping section. At the rate we are grasping' the fundamentals of elementary bookkeeping, that if given a wider scope, Swatara. Township High School will produce some young men and women in theihusiness world that will he an honor and a credit to the Alumni. It is the desire and honest wish of this year's commercial class to make such an impression upon the school and community that from now on, the commercial department may receive the ear'nest support of the community at large. l VVe, this yearls commercial class, hope that as Alumni, we may soon return to find that a neweVocational IIigheSehool with a fully equipped four year commercial department, teaching' bookkeeping, commercial aritlunetic, com- mercial law, and commercial geography, shorthand, spelling, typewriting and a. few months of practical otiice practice.
