MR. MOREY I don't know anyone who has spent more time and effort and has had greater affection for this school than Mr. Morey. These words of Mr. Bush give an inkling as to the type of role Mr. Morey has played here for the past thirty years. To Swarthmore, he has been more than just a Supervising Principal. Until a few years ago, each Christmas season saw jolly old Saint Nick bring life to an assembly program as he distributed choice presents to certain lucky individuals. With- out a doubt, the students enjoyed this custom as much as Mr. Morey did. However, his role in the school has also involvedjobs of a more serious nature. Over the years, he has proved to be an able and astute disciplinarian. Miss Hancock recalls one incident which occurred when she was teaching an art class in the auditorium. Three boys apparently discove red that through snake - like maneuvers they could escape. They were indeed surprised, however, when as punish- ment Mr. Morey firmly demanded that they repeat the performance--this time under the table in the office. Never again have any boys tried to crawl out of an art class! 1 Mr. Morey's great versatility was further exemplified one day when he, on the spur of the moment, conducted one of Miss Arm- strong's English classes. He undoubtedly addedanew spice to the ordinarily flavorless spelling words which constituted that parti- culiar day's lesson. Probably no one has spent more devoted hours at the school than Mr. Morey. His associates never ceasedto wonder at his end- less vigor displayed continually around the school. When not occupied talking into his dictaphone or signing aletter, he could always be seen rushing down the halls checking thermostats or adjusting shades. In addition, despite his many other demands, he has al- ways found time to send birthday cards to each member of the faculty. In honor of Mr. Morey's twenty-fifth year here, the faculty staged a long-to-be-remem- beredparty. They asked every teacher he had ever hired to write him a note for the occas- sion. This event, plus the gala affair planned one year as a surprise birthday celebration show clearly the appreciation everyone feels for his excellent work here. To Mr. Morey, Swarthmore has been the scene of many hours of hard work, given with a willing heart and an able hand. For his out- standing contribution as Supervising Princi- pal Mr. Morey will long be remembered.
