Attack down here! All Attack! Hey! Attack! . . . That ball was for you! . . . Defense, up here, dribble one and then drive! NO! NO! NO! DRIVE. the ball! .. . Hey, girls, ' wake up! --could be heard by many envious junior highers. The sight of Miss Allen diligently rest- ing her girls in the gym with their legs propped up on benches because They haven't been getting enough sleep, is one episode that won't soon be forgotten. Of the many games played, two will be re- membered above all: the Westtown game for its score of ten to zero, and the final Springfield game for its excitement. Never before did the ball fly up and down the field so often. As a result of all this ac- tivity, the team came out undefeated, a trib- ute to their skill and Miss Allen's coaching. Girls' Basketball ON FLOOR: M. Brownell, B, McCorkel, Co-captains. FIRST ROW: C. Brodhead, S. Driehaus, M. Colton, J. Heckman, A. Kroon, S. Preston, M.Gurler, L, de Prophetis. SECOND ROW: Miss D , coach, B. Bovard, J. Bradberry, K. Welsh, C. Limmerman, C. Webster, S. Cowing, S. Campbell,A.Warnes. THIRD ROW: A. Cilfillan, manager, N. Weber, M. McCorkel, B. Wicks, N. Lee, S. Wright, J. Ferguson, manager. As each game became more important and exciting, the Girls Basketball squad worked towards an undefeated season. When an overflow of nervous energy was built up, a few players were able to work off some of this energy through constructive means, such as knitting at accelerated rates, while others, less construc- tive, have been found chewing on fingers and nails. The two co- captains, Betty Ann McCorkel and Margaret Brownell, along with the unmatched guidance of Miss D., have led the team to a highly successful season. Betty Ann, it has been rumored, hypnotises her opponents. Margaret, who is sometimes hard to find, shoots from the most extraordinary places, but manages to make the ball go exactly into the basket. With the combination of good spirit and hard work, plus the unique bathrobe belts, the squad has achieved a fabulous record for 1950.
