Qi Mr. Holmes wants more than he gets. ...a nd rchestra. The serious, classical-minded group that comprises our orchestra decided to seek safety in numhers this year. Membership in all sections was increased, and a hass clarinet and hasoon were added to provide some new and different notes. Thus equipped, the orchestra sallied out to face the competition. It did quite well, nine memhers made District B. A. McCorkel, M. Smith, G. Meyer, P. Smith, M L. Friend. Orchestra and three went to State, several players performed in the Delaware County Orchestra, and a string group provided ex- ccllent relief entr'acte in the school play. At the crack of dawn for so it seemslj each Monday, Wrednesday, and Friday, a troupe of half-awake singing enthusiasts gather under the direction of Mrs. Betty Jo Wagner to exercise their gifted vocal cords. With no time to fool around, the vocalists accomplish much in the alotted 45 minute period. Five minutes of tune-up drills is fol- with the Chorus lowed hy rehearsing and memorizing parts, struggling through new pieces at first sight, or singing again a favorite number of last year. If not rehearsing for the Thanksgiving season, the Christmas holidays, Baccalaureate, or a special assembly, it's a safe bet that the chorus is on the colorful Spring Concert, which is the high spot of the choral season.
