3 in-Q. juniors listi-n to Jann-t's Mrs. Mathews expounds to 11901. tm., and away wt go history ri-port. senior English class. A CIOOICS TOUR OF SYY.-XR'l'HNIORli HIGH SCHOOIJ' As the sun rises slowly over the tennis courts and the moon fades behind the parking lot, our little ship glides slowly toward the pleasant isle of Eromhtraws. As we draw near, we are met by a buzz of activity and the hum of many voices. Enraptured, we beach our craft and soon fall in with a group of young natives who are sadly wending their way toward the central structure of this island paradise. We enter this forbiding build- ing and follow our noses to a room innocently labeled Home Economics, where native girls are offering up burnt sacrifices to the gods, in hope ol obtaining husbands. In terror, we break away from these proceedings, and hastily climb a stairway. which is betlccked with the sayings of tribal sages, to a hut, where what appears to be the tribal witch-doctor is busily engaged in instructing backward native boys in the intricacies of in- clined plane and ionic dissociation. The great man's prestige is indicated by a medal that he wears, mysteriously inscribed with the Ad-lai. We are envied by the entire group as we casually take our leave. Passing thc tribal hut of Papi Yo-cum, we over hear Papi himself, instructing a bunch of urchins in the use of such incantations as circular file, as it were, and so to speak, while simultaneously lecturing on the glorious past of the race. Oh well, in the words of Papi himself: Let sleeping dogs lie -and let us leave. Continuing down the path, we are startled to see a young maiden running tearfully out of a room from which eminates all manner of hoots and howls. She has obviously violated some jungle taboo and is now being exorcised from the tribe. The natives in this hut are beating out weird rhythms with desk lids and listening to Herr expound on the correct usage of the prepositive attributive position. Shaking our heads in be- wilderment we traipse on over to a large rectangular enclosure wherein resides the i'Chief. Inside, aproned youths are busily assembling wooden SlIHlllll Nolite conclamare
