Tu cn ty ezght PROPHECY drn er Lee Bennett to the alt museum on the Parkway As Lee sw ers ed around the corner h1s cab lost a rear fender on an Honest Phll Hummer for Gov ernor campalgn truck A block farther on he w as forced to take a detour smce a twelx e block area had been reduced to rubble 1n the X1ClD1tX of Daxe Luehrlngs nuclear phs slcs laboratorx It looked as 1f perhaps Dane had mlsplaced h1s declmal polnt At the museum Don w ent to the office of the head curator Ted Cares Ted was glad to see Don agaln and took hlm on a tour of the museum where they saw works of art done bv Nancy Wrlghtsman and 1n the modern art sectlon some palntlngs by Ted hlmself Soon howex er Don s aesthetlc yearnlngs were satlsfied and he started off to catch the 4 46 traln home At the 30th Street Statlon Don bought a tlcket from the smlllng tlcket agent June Shearer and a red star ed1t1on of the Evemng Bulletm He sat down to walt for the tram and on the front page of the paper he dlscovered an artlcle about Ann Denworth who had been elected as the first woman burgess of Swarthmore In the next column Phyllls Collms was wrltten up for her 9XC1l2lI'lg adventures 1n the Belglan Congo as a mlsslonary There was an 1tem about Howard Arrlson s Ballet School whlch was golng to put on a program that mght at the Academy of MUSIC Just below this was a story about Dxck Burtls who was to perform h1s own Concerto No 1 for Potato Plpe and Glockensplel Nearer the top of the page he notlced that Mary Decrouez had just been deported as an undeslrable allen She had been wr1t1ng agalnst the Admlnlstratlon and had forgotten that she had never been naturallzed as an Amerlcan c1t1zen and so she really wasn t prlvlleged to complaln Don s browslngs were mterrupted by the volce of Barbara Thorbahn over the publlc address system announclng that the Medla local was leaung on track two and that all passengers had better hurry the dexll up Don hurrled to the tram and resumed readlng h1s paper A full column artlcle was devoted to the storv of novellst Muriel Watklns who had Just won the Pulltzer Prlze for her colorful travelogue Through Turkey W1th a Kmfe and Fork Just before the tram reached 49th Street the conductress Julle HIODIS took h1s tlcket After Sklmmlng the rest of hlS newspaper The tram pulled mto the Swarthmore platform and Don got off and lnto hls car whlch whlsked h1m home When he reached hls house h1s cook Barbala Schumacher mformed hlm that hls evenlng telex xs1on show was about to go on and that he would have to hurry 1f he were to see Hopalong Streeter attempt h1s darlng escape from the rustlers hldeout Don hurrled xnto hls ln mg room sat down took off hlS shoes and as he was tunlng 1n the statlon he heard Joan Acker Slgfllng off on her Glrl Scout program The new sreel came next and Don saw to h1s great surprlse Sandy Bowle gettlng a medal as the champlon rxvet throw er at Sun Shlp Jean Holman had 1ust recelx ed the Most Valuable Engllsh Teacher of West Punxataw ney award and she was belng mterxlewed bp, that outstandlng actlcss of mox 18 and TV fame Anne deFur1a After the news the show came on and Don relaxed for the evenlng as he saw the outlaws attemptlng to set fire to the Wldder Hopson s ranch ln ordel to force her to sell out and to COmm1t Hoppx Streeter to the payment of a mol tgage held bx in unscrupulous ladx banker J ul1e Lange Hoppy arrlved Wlth the posse 1ust IH tlme to saxe the Wldflel s ranch and so all was well In a few mmutes Mr Plerce w as asleep Prlvate Eye Adams put the finlshlng touches on h1s report Insextlng the notes 1n hls folder Carroll t1p toed out of the room took the celestlal elex ator back to heax en and handed IH hls repolt to Samt Petex ' y 1 - 1 1 1 7 , , . .
