HSS Dun Alma Mater As the month of June draws near we look back on the many good times we haxe had at school which must come to an end at graduation The first big ex ent of our school career was our kindergarten trip to the Rose Valley Pool To add some excitement Millie Ber nard took a spill into the deep end but Phil Price played the hero of the day and loaned her some clothes By the end of the year we had finished our outdoor fireplace and tried it out by cooking applesauce We spent most of the next year passing contagious diseases around Waldo started the chicken pox epidemic and Nancy set whooping cough on its way After a tough winter we celebrated the coming of spring with a trip to Bellfields pond to feed the ducks Joan Russell started second grade off with a bang by breaking Miss Hoffmans radio We became experienced travelers that year getting acquainted with the community by visiting the Post Oifice the Police Station and the Fire Department To further our knowledge of the outside world we went to the Navy Yard. The year come to an excit- ing climax when we saw two boats launched at Essington and went on board Phylliss yacht. Our outings continued through thiid grade. The greatest came when we visitel the Great Valley Flour Mills in Paoli an'l brought back some buckwheat flour to make pancakes in our cooking class. Miss Young taught us to square dance, but we were much more interested in the Breyer's Ice Cream Company where we had all the ice cream we could eat, for once! By the end of the year Sue and Pat, bored with school, ran away to sing on the radio, but David Chickering anal Bob Buxbaum played detective and succesn- fully returned the travelers,
