Jon 1952-53 was the first school year that Collection was enlivened by the weekly appearance of a student council represen- tative, who purported to describe briefly the progress of student life through the previous week. Under Jay Stover the first semester, and Jon Fine the second, the council per- formed impressively. The Rutgers fraternity plan was rejected, and the NSA student Bill of Rights approved. Honor societies were a subject of discussion in the council as well as in the press, as were community government, inter-dormitory visitation, and admissions policy. The Council succeeded in stirring up record interest in its committees, with a gigantic application list of 300 eager students.
