Ai T Memories, flowing streams within my mind Like a dream but yet so real Leaving yesterday behind. Many traces of the happiness we knew Times we shared with each other They're the way we were And it all seemed so easy then But has time made us forget the way we smiled Will wishes ever bring back again The memories we once knew Memories can be so wonderful, but sad Those that pain us to remember Are the ones we seem to forget But those magic memories Flow forever in our minds Those yesterdays let us remember The way we were. i I 1 ,- 111 Beth Bjork Cathy Johnson Cynthia Morse Dolores Alger Donna Novak C hri stopher Nl ora no David Harting David Leno Debra Ohrn Donna Reidy Donald Plante Eilene Nevins Joan Bedrosian Douglas Smith Edward Breau Frederick Novicku CLASS OFFICERS sp N? But for Sutton students things were different. Sept- ember 7th meant seeing old friends but also seeing old teachers. As every year does, this year brought a new class of Freshmen. Bigger than any g class presently in the high r '7 school. You see them ev- erywhere. Looking for lock- ers, classrooms and even the office. It took a while for them to get used to the strange new surroundings but soon they were able to get around with minimum difficulty. Their years at Sutton may seem eternal, but soon they'll be the Sen iors, looking back on their four years at S.H.S. 20 an L5-E af u R 8 l 'ffm-'? er u, in or UTI? nn nu .ighs XWNI 'xl . wx X . -Q ff' f ,fm 42,4 -Q-'ll . H Inspired by the National Election year, lVIr. Filipkovvski led his government classes in a study of the voting process and pro- cedure on a state and national level. With the knowledge gained in the classroom, the classes proceeded to apply it to the elec- tion of class offices in the school. Students were given four days in which to register. Only registered voters were acceptable on nomination papers and non- registered voters were not permitted to vote, as in government elections. After primary elections were held, the gym vvas converted into Precinct eil and students svvarmed in to officially elect the officers for their respective classes. Bal lots were then carefully counted and official results were announced to the stu- dent body. With a better understanding of the election process, most students learned hovv to qualify to vote and became more actively involved in the process. Elections became more important for the students while also being made aware of the privelege that it is to be able to vote and to voice one's opinion. 23 Class Officers Sophomores President--Cathy IVIorse Vice President--Patricia Winkievvicz Secretary--Donna Amato Treasurer--IVIark Goodwin luniors President--David Gvazdauskas Vice President--Nancy IVIorano Treasurer--Andrevv Mosher e Secretary--Theresa Sardagnola - f 1 jf I, Freshmen President--Barbara Domey Vice President--IVIichaeI Bousquet Treasurer--Jeffrey Conley luniors Nancy lVlorano David Gvazdauskas Kim Broberg Freshmen Trudy Beique Barbara Domey Tracy Newton Seniors Bob lVIagner Michael Hatfield J ,, . . , I 7 f .!.,w. , v- . 0 sf? g, fl- 'ff ' J Q r as . . With a 10- 3-2 record, the sammies won the Dual-Val- ley League Title. Leading the team were Bob llllagner and Gary Eaton, co-captains, the sammies won their first 6 games which gave them the encouragement and deter- mination that led them on to VICTORY Goalie's, Don Plante and Andy lVlosher had 2 shut-outs each and kept the opposing teams atbaywith their goal-tending abili- ties. With defensemen Al Hicks and the junior trio of Phil Beckwith and Tom Dans- trom and Dave Gvazdauskas, the sammies and halftheir team completed, So far, so good. Next we have the most powerful, the speedy and the most feared by all, the sammies forward They proved to be the major factor in the game when the game was needed. The half- backs were outstanding and were probably the most valuable asset for the taking of 'the Championship. One of the sammies most surprising talents was the ability to to win big games when needed, and there were quite a few games like that. The sam- mies will lose a few of their players next year, but will come back next year even stronger to conquer once again 28 P 1 ar 4 1,29 , ., '.:1 Vi 'buff' f Q .. Money Making Activities For Seniors The Seniors made quite a profit from the sales of Sutton hats and candy bars.. The hats on hand were greatly in demand and were sold in two days. Then another order of hats came in, and were sold in just a single day. The candy sale, which consisted of plain and almond chocolate candy bars, was also a great success. Everyday, Seniors would be carrying around a box of candy, waiting for students to jump at them. W . '- 1 Jef, f V ' , lf, 2 ' ff 1 . For some they can mean sleepless nights in anticipation of big exams. For others they may be proof of the amount of knowledge they are able to retain. The first requirement is that a Junior, at the end of the second quarter, have an 85 average. Upon meeting this requirement, students must ap- ply for membership, proving that they possess character, leadership, and service. Appli- cations are then reviewed by a panel of teach- ers . Accepted students are then notified and inducted at a banquet or cerem ony, E, ' f if I it A 1stRow: Mary Nlalmgren, Beth Bjork San dra Puchek, Nancy Silun, Donna Reidy, 'vp f - sf ,v v H - MR, rg, .4 . 43 Q Af X x-A4 . kk.
