Sixty-four apprenticed people were starting forth on the road to graduation in this month, September, 1956. All had looked for- ward to this day, and we were not to be disappointed. Soon after our arrival at school, we found that we were assigned to rooms l03 and 209 with Mrs. Davagian and Mr. Shepeluk as our advisors for the year. Being the lowest class in the high school we had to wait until October before having our class elections. Vtfhen the elections were held, the officers elected were: President--Iudy Blanchardg Vice-President--Mark Carlsonp Secretary--Gloria Masters, Treasurer--Iane Brasiskisp Student Council--Iudy Wahlstrom and Brad Beaton. We chose blue and white as our class colors. ln October came the Freshman Initiation. Everybody enjoyed the per- formance, especially the pillow fight between Pat Roy, Pat Craw, Brad Beaton, and Eddie Parent. CThey really slammed those pillows around--in fact, until the feathers started flying.J In the spring, we had the opportunity of putting on the Sophomore Return Party, our only money making project for the year. The entertainment, con- sisting of imitating well-known singers and TV-stars, proved to be very suc- cessful, both in entertainment and in adding to our Washington fund. By Iune we had completed our apprenticeship and were ready to enter our next year as Sophomores and full-fledged members of the high school. As Sophomores, in 1957, we convened in rooms 207 and 209 with Mr. and Mrs. Murdock as our class advisors. Class elections were held and the following members were elected to lead us through the year: President--Judy Blanchardg Vice-President--Pat Roy, Secretary--Brad Beatong Treasurer--Iane Brasislzisp Student Council--Anne Keown and Norman Slocum. It was to our great delight that we made preparation to initiate the in- coming Freshmen, for we could now get revenge for the treatment we had re- ceived the previous year. We held a few dances during the year that added a little more for our Washington fund. ln March, we chose our class rings which we would rocoivo thc following fSCplC:r'1'1l1f:I'. Thus ended the second step on our road to graduation. In September, 1958, forty-two Iuniors entered the now familiar walls of Sutton High as the largest Iunior class in the history of the school. Shortly after the opening of school, we elected class officers: Presi- dent--Brad Beaton, Vice-President--Eddie Leonard, Secretaiy--Ioanne Stellman, Treasurer--Iane Brasiskis, Student Council--Genevieve Vaundell and Marla Carlson. Our class rings arrived, and no prouder people were to be seen. CDon't touch my ring ll Under the able guidance of our class advisor, Mrs. Plante, we were able to earn the reputation of being the richest class to enter the Senior year. Our success was attributed to candy selling, a food sale Canyone for brownies at ll? eachl and a Ham and Bean Supper. Besides the regular dances we held, we put on the junior Prom, A Song in My Heart, and Sutton Bandstand, a pantomime dance. In Iune we acted as caterers for the Alumni Supper, which honored the Seniors. At the Senior Assembly, seven members, Iudy Blanchard, Nathan Greece, Beverly Hare, Ioanne Stellman, Leonard Swart, Iudy Wahlstrom and Karen Vlfhite were elected to the National Honor Society. In September, 1959, thirty-six honorable Seniors entered the last lap of the journey to graduation. Our officers for the year were: President--Brad Beaton, Vice-President-- Eddie Leonard, Secretary--Beverly Hare, Treasurer--Jane Brasiskis, Student Council--Genevieve Vaundell and Norman Slocum. Doc was to be our guide for the year. Our class won the annual magazine drive during September and was re- warded by an ice cream party and Little Doc , who was to be our mascot. Before many weeks had passed, the Seniors became bloodthirsty and started killing chickens. Gur efforts were well rewarded as we heard several compliments about our Chicken Supper. In November, Leonard Swart replaced Norman in the Student Council and Genevieve took Norman's place as president of the Student Council. Around this same time, the townspeople were often interrupted in their work by ambitious Seniors who had decided to become salesmen. Two weeks before the Christmas vacation, Mr. Lavallee joined us for a while because Doc had to have an eye operation. We missed Doc , but we enjoyed the six weeks that Mr. Lavallee stayed with us. Work began on the Exitus, and classes were broken up by Seniors rushing to meet the deadline. Iudy Blanchard was chosen for the Student Government Representative and attended the meeting of all such state representatives in Boston. Beverly Hare was chosen as the D.A.R, representative and spent a day at the annual D.A.R, convention. In February, we presented a Valentine Dance which was the median be- tween a formal ball and a record hop. Now as we leave all this behind, we wish to thank those teachers and parents who made it possible to attain our goal. Beverly Hare Class Will We, the Senior Class of l960, completing our four wonderful and unfor- getable years at Sutton High School, hereby declare this to be our last will and testament. Class Prophecy The time is 1970 and the place is the fabulous Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City. Caterers and waitresses are scurrying about preparing for a Great event--the reunion of the Senior Class of l96O. A few of the guests have arrived already. A shiny black airport limousine has pulled up at the main entrancep and as the doorman opens the doors of the huge car, out steps Mary Ann Pristawa who has flown all the way from Hawaii where she is engaged in office work. Two more persons emerge from the limousine. They are Pat Roy, who flew in on the same plane as Mary, and Bev Hare. Pat and Bev are almost neighbors. Pat is a journalist in California, and Bev owns and operates a huge orphanage in Los Angeles. The three girls, chattering excitedly, are escorted into the huge dining hall. Here they are surprised to find four world-famous scientists, Carl Ohrn, jim Sunskis, Tom Paikos, and Norm Slocum. These scientists have all been working on a top secret project at Cape Canaveral, Florida. With them is Ray Dona who also is stationed at Cape Canaveral as a radio operator. A red Cadillac screeches to a halt in front of the hotel. The chauffeur dashes around the car and opens the door. Out steps Karen Vifhite dressed in white mink. Kare is married to a millionaire from Paris, France, where she now resides. She struts into the lobby and sees two men dressed in soft hats and trench coats. She recognizes them as detectives, Mark Carlson and Bill Lyman. With them is Iane Brasiskis who is their confidential secretary at their firm in New York. All four enter the dining room where several other guests have arrived. Among them they see Don Mathieu. Don is Vice-Pres- ident of Trans World Airlines System. He is talking to Iudy Wahlstrom who is now a Colonel in the Women's Air Force. A familiar giggle is heard. All heads turn toward Iudy Blanchard who has just come from Springfield, Massachusetts, where she has been teaching at Longmeadow High School. Coming through the door behind Judy are the Carcelon sisters. Edith works as an executive secretary in a Manhattan office building and Ruth is supervising nurse at a large hospital in Chicago. Speaking of the medical field, here comes Ienny Vaundell and Linda Tankis. They are both nurses at New York's St. Vincent Hospital. This is the same hospital at which Nathan Greece, who has come in behind the girls, is building a reputation as an outstanding doctor. Sharp or what! That sounds familiar. Sure enough it's Karen Quaranta staring with open-mouthed awe at Burt Clark's new hair cut. Karen is a med- ical secretary at a doctor's office in Shrewsbury, and Burt is a barber and owns his own shop in Florida. ln one corner of the huge room is a group of five men. They are engineers Iohn liuchinslti, Ed DeHaan, Len Swart, Allan Putnam, and forester Ed Leonard. It seems they are discussing with Ed about the removal of trees on the site of a proposed dam in Oregon. Here comes Wes Helgesen and Chic Elansburg. Wes is a salesman in farm machinery and is trying to sell Chic some new machinery for his 300 acre farm bacl: home in Sutton. There's a distinguished-looking gentleman emerging from the crowd. lt's Brad Beaton, who is now a successful lawyer in Chicago. He casually walks over to Roger Eaubert and Norm Giguere who are draftsmen for Wyman-Gordon Co. Art Scanlon then joins them. He is also employed at Wyman-Gordon as a machinist. Finally, the last of the crowd arrives. They are Glo Masters, Madeleine Plante, and Gail Henderson. Glo and Madeleine are married and are bragging about their children, and Gail is an efficient comptometer operator. In the middle of a jolze, Gail's attention is attracted towards a side door. She un- expectedly shouts, Here's Docsie 1 and everybody rushes over to greet their old friend. Now the dinner can begin, for the guest of honor has arrived. Everyone talzes his place at the dining table and thanks is offered to God for the happy and successful reunion ofthe Class of 1960.
