Class History The history of our class began in September, 1955, when as a group of hope- ful and expectant freshmen, we entered Sutton High School, our home for the next four years. At the first meeting of our class, the following officers were elected: Gail Putnam, President, Thomas Fulton, Vice-President, Tallea Windle, Secretary, John Anderson, Treasurerg and Student Council Representatives, Gretel Putnam and Gordon Whitten. Many members of the class began their high school, careers with a bang, by participating in school sports, Glee Club, and other outside activities. We all enjoyed our initiation at the hands of the sophomores, and in April we sponsored our only project for the year--the Sophomore Return Party. We gained experience through this effort, and also began our Washington trip fund. Our Freshman year proved that we were to take an active part in school activ- ities, and responsibility, during our remaining three years at S.H.S. Our sophomore year began with the election of new officers. The following officers were chosen by their classmatesg John Anderson, Presidentg Anthony Grabauskas, Vice-President, Gail Putnam, Secretary, Tallea Windle, Treasurer, Judith King and Barbara O'Handley, Student Council Representatives. Our class advisors, Miss Pacella and Mr. Warner, helped us present the Freshman Initiation, and another dance held in April. During the year, Thomas Fulton replaced John on the Student Council. We also chose our class rings from the Josten Ring Co., and then waited impatiently for their arrival the next fall. As juniors we met with our class advisors, Mrs. Plante and Mr. Warner, and elected our class officers. They were: Thomas Fulton, President, Anthony Grabauskas, Vice-President, Gail Putnam, Secretary, Cecile LaVergne, Treasurer, and Judith King and Gordon Whitten, Student Council Representatives. Fund-raising went along quite well this year, through everyone's efforts at putting on dances, helping the seniors wait on tables at their chicken supper, selling candy at Christmas, and putting on the Alumni Banquet. In May, several members of the class who belonged to the Dramatics Club, enjoyed joining with others to present two one-act plays. At the graduation exercises of 1958, Thomas Fulton, Gail Putnam, and Gordon Whitten were elected to the National Honor Society. Our congratulations also go to Lester Neale, who at this time was awarded the United States History award. After summer vacation, and now finally seniors, we met with our class advisor, Mr. Schwab, to elect class officers. Charles Valatka was elected Presidentg Thomas Fulton, Vice-President, Gail Putnam, Secretary, Tallea Windle, Treasurer, and Judith King and Gordon Whitten, Student Council Representatives. Gordon was later elected president of the council, and Judy was elected secretary.
