Mr. Schoneberg stated that it was a team goal to make State this year. There were no other ball games as exciting to play as those at State. The team was fortunate to make it to State 3 out of 6 years. The coach felt the girls had a good chance of making State when the district assignments came out in July. The Fillies first game at State was against Burwell. which we won. The second playoff game was against Battle Creek, a disappointing loss. The Fillies ended their season third at State. BASKET 12

Sutton Fillies this season broke Shick-ley’s 46-game winning streak. According to Mr. Schoneberg. the reason for these wins was working together as a team with excellent defense and each filling her part. The Fillies captured the 2nd-best record in Fillies History and were rated 3rd in State. Coach Schoneberg stated the toughest teams to play were Centennial and Battle Creek.
