Have you “punked out recently? Ever wear your pajamas to school? Well, we did during Spirit Week. We did a lot of “wild and crazy things. Monday was pajama and toga day. Then, on Tuesday, almost all of the students punked out by wearing mismatched clothing and weird makeup. Wednesday was western day. Thursday was the usual jersey-and-slave day, when some of the slaves had to wear the helmet and shoulder pads of a football player. Some even had to sing in front of the people in the lunchroom or feed their master. And Friday was hush-button day. The Pep Club members could not speak to the football guys, but the guys would stop at nothing to make them speak. The week ended by the Pep Club leading a pep rally to cheer on the team. This year the Pep Club gave awards for the best-dressed person during the week. Charlene Griess received a stuffed snake for pajama day, while Kent Ochsner received a rock for punk-rock day. Pattie Kastens received a cowboy hat for western day, and Tom Sheridan received a big button for hush-button day since he had collected the most hush buttons. The teachers who participated in Spirit Week shared two big chocolate chip cookies. Overall, Spirit Week was great fun for everyone. Top: The Spudly Bud Buddies: Kim Krause, Cdrmen DuBois, Chdrlene Griess, Brendd Velebo. Middle Lett: Kent Ochsner Punks Out!
