endow 'gfcbtofuy Our history as a class begins on the 4th day of September, 1950, when we enrolled in Sutton High School. Our Freshman Class of 127 members held its first class meeting September 15, for the purpose of electing class officers. Under the capable direction of our sponsors, Miss Engle, Mr. Adams, and Mr. Howard, we held our firsrelection, Jim Byrne was elected President, with Dwight Perrine, Vice-President, Wilma Rose, Secretaryg Mark Luzader, Treasurer, and Sue Moore, Historian, as his assistants, At a later class meeting Marjorie Robinson was elected to replace the former Vice-President and Nancy Berry was named Varsity Cheerleader, Alice Lou Gillespie, Janet Swiger, and Undine Underwood were chosen class cheerleaders and Marilyn Stutler was elected Treasurer. We chose green and white as our class colors and Eagles as our name, With the same sponsors, and a new title, Sophomores, we again met in September, 1951, and elected class officers. They were: Jim Byrne, President, Sue Moore, Vice-President, Wilma Rose, Secretaryg Mary Dyer, Treasurer, and George Dennison, Historian. Our cheerleaders were Alice Lou Gillespie, Mary Dyer, and Shirley Dean, and songleaders, Sue Moore and Nancy Berry. As the Junior Class we had more duties and responsibilities than ever before. We were moved into two home-rooms with Miss Engle and Mr. Howard as sponsors, and immediately started planning ways to make money for the Homecoming and the Junior-Senior Prom. Retaining Jim Byrne, Sue Moore, and Wilma Rose in their former positions, we also elected Jack Allman, Treasurer, and Sally Wilson, Historian. In a later election we chose the Dogwood as our class flower and our motto, United we stand, divided we fall. After many months of work selling candy, and the presentation of our play, FINDERS CREEPERS, we finallyhad enough money for our prom. It proved to be a success and was enjoyed by all. During the spring we ordered our class rings, and our sponsors were changed, Miss Fisher raking Mr. Howard's place. ln the fall of '53 we suddenly realized we were dignified seniors. ln our annual class election Jim Byrne was again elected President, Marjorie Robinson, Vice-President, Wilma Rose, Secretaryg Sue Moore, Treasurer, and Janice Arnold, Historian. We received our class rings during the fall and began planning our class play for spring presentation. As we near our graduation day we see, in the past, four years of happiness and attainment in Sutton High School, and, in the future, hopes for fulfillment of our dreams and ambitions as we become useful citizens of our country. 10
