The 1983-84 season was long for the Sailors with a 7-9 record. Although splitting the non-conference games with 5 apiece, SPVA Conference play saw only 2 wins against 4 losses. One bright spot is that the Sailors are losing only one senior while next years’ team will have four seniors, two juniors, and two sophomores plus they are expected to pick up some talented freshmen. Record Setting Season This years girls basketball team set four records: best Field Goal percentage against Imperial, 45%; best free throw percentage against Wauneta, 73%; lowest scoring game was against Benkelman. 20 to 26; and Nancy Seifer set a new record with 11 assists against Chappell. The team ended the season with a record of 11-7. They worked very hard, and had a lot of tough and disappointing games. The team was 4th in regular season and SPVA tournament. Janice Swedberg was selected for All Conference, and Nancy Seifer was chosen for Honorable Mention All Conference. The hopes for a better season next year looks good with 6 letterwinners returning.
