Students Receive Honors During the year, several SHS students received honors both in and out of school. The LOG photographer caught some of these people for pictures. Students-of-the-Month (pictured lower right corner) selected by the Student Council were: Monica Zulauf and Scott Jones; Julie Scott and Matt Burklund; Stephanie Coker and Dirk Gray; Diane Grubb and Ken Gibbons; Lisa Wilcox and Scott Adkins; Mindy Sandberg and James Donoghue; Suzi Larson and Steve Binegar; and Diane Grubb and Steve Parr. Two girls will travel with Lisa Wilcox going to Mexico during the summer and Shelly Nedrig (lower left corner) spending next year in Australia. Selected for Girls and Boys State were: Dawn Wisdom and Lisa Boggs; Scott Adkins and Scott Jones. Selected for All-State Music were Ellen Hopping, Don Douglas, Scott Jones, and Dawn Wisdom. Representing SHS at the Nebraska Council of Youth were Lisa Wilcox. Megan Paulman, Karleen Grauerholz, George Smith, Monica Zulauf, and Scott Jones.

Tough Season For Sailorettes The Sailorettes finished out their season with a 7 win and 12 loss record. There were a number of players with outstanding statistics. Janice Swedberg received unanimous SPVA All Conference honors. Janice was also the leading spiker for the Sailorettes with 256 of 301 for 85%, with 116 aces. This was the highest spiking percentage in years for the Sailors. Jackie Sauer was the leading setter with 364 of 381 for 95.9% and 77 sets for spike aces. Mindy Sandberg was the leading server with 153 of 170 for 90% with 37 aces. The Sailorettes will be losing six starters, but are looking forward to a challenging season next year.
