New Fads Hit Sutherland The 1982-83 school year arrived bringing many new fads and fashions to Sutherland High. It was common- place for a student to saunter into McDonalds with his ghetto-blaster, walk up to the counter, and order some Chicken McNuggets and a Diet Coke. Of course, the students had to be dressed for every occasion. 1. Monica Zulauf and Johna Jochum model the latest in mini-skirts. 2. Dawn Wisdom and Tori Miller know you’re never fully dressed without a bow tie when wearing the popular tuxedo look. 3. Even though the alligators have decreased in popularity, the preppy look is still in. Sweaters, ties, polo shirts, and topsiders make any ward- robe complete. 4. For a night out on the town or just to lounge around in the gym, Liz Fleecs, Ginger Nelson, and Holly Elfeldt find ruffled shirts to be just the thing for comfort and style. 5. Leg warmers helped to brighten up the winter blahs. Staci Rickett, Kris Headley, and Heidi Elfeldt show off their coordinating leg warmers. 6. As well as being func- tional, headbands made the girls’ basketball team, including Michele Rasby, Megan Paulman, and Monica Zulauf look more fierce. 7. Cowboy boots really made the scene this year in girls’ fashion. Worn with slacks or prairie skirts, Diane Grubb, Lisa Wilcox, Lana McConnell, and Michele Rasby found them comfortable and fun to wear. 2

In Memoriam We, the class of 1983, wish to include in this annual the memory of two class members who were taken from us too soon. Florence Marie Kellie and Richard Jobman. Florence was a member of our class from 1970 to 1975 and a good friend to us all. She was active in Girl Scouts and 4-H and always brightened up our world. Richard was in our class from 1980 to 1982. Although he didn’t participate in any extracurricular activities, he was a dedicat- ed fan and always supported his classmates and friends. He could always bring out the best of every situation. Florence Kellie Richard Jobman Dedication Without these two friends and teachers, Mr. Gary Weishaar and Mr. Bill Fulcher, we would have had a much more difficult time during our high school years. Besides just being great class sponsors, they were good friends and always willing to listen and offer advice. They even managed to keep our class meetings in some semblence of order. We can think of no better way to thank them for all their help than to dedicate this Log to them. 4
