SHS Climbs the Stairway to Heaven “Stairway to Heaven was the theme for an evening of dancing, dining and entertainment at the annual Junior-Senior Prom hosted by the Junior class at the Ogallala Elks’ Club, Saturday May 7th. Michele Rasby and Mike King served as Senior Royalty, while Jackie Sauer and Duane Scott were selected as Junior Attendants. Toastmistress at the banquet was Susan Seifer. Class prophecies were read by Diane Grubb and Tom Wilcox, with senior wills being presented by Robert Quimby. Michele Rasby delivered the senior thank you. The Case of the Frustrated Corpse, a comedy skit presented by sophomore servers George Smith, Tori Miller, Dawn Wisdom and Scott Jones, provided additional entertainment. Other servers at the banquet were Monica Zulauf, Megan Paulman, Aaron Martin and John Riddell. A variety of music for the dance wai provided by the Dynamics. The music ended at 1 a.m., but the fun continued with a breakfast at Seifer’s.

1983 Grads Start New Beginning May 14, 1983, was the end of high school and the beginning of new lives for 30 of SHS’s students. Graduation ceremonies look place in the Sutherland gym with Michele Rasby serving as Mistress of Ceremonies. The event started off with the Invocation which was given by Reverend Gerald Timmons. He was also the guest speaker. Diplomas were handed out by Don Grubb and Robert Sandberg. Top right photo, going clockwise: Michele Rasby, Mistress of Ceremonies. Tammy White, Connie Thompson, and Larea Paulman show their happy ex- pressions as they await to start gradua- tion ceremonies. The 1983 seniors “Paint- ed the Town Red with the slogan of Safe, Sane, and Sober. Gary Weishaar provided the singing selections during the event. 14
