THE LOG PRESENTED BY THE SENIOR CLASS OF 1981 SUTHERLAND HIGH SCHOOL SUTHERLAND, NEBRASKA Dan Chamberlain Jodell Chessmore Wes Culver I Bill Faust Cathy Fleecs Lynn Gant Kelly Kendall Tammy Kvanvig Sandra Lenz IN MEMORY OF GREG Greg Hoefer was an outstanding student and ath- lete as well as a good personal friend of the Senior Class of 1981. We enjoyed all the good times he spent with us, and his ability to lead us through good times and bad. Now, even though Greg is gone, he will remain with us always. Golden Memories We cannot say, and will not say Goodbye to everything you meant to us. With a cheery smile and a wave of the hand You have wandered into an unknown land. Oh friend! Who comforted and showed wisdom. The memories you gave are so golden. We are saddened you are gone. But memories of you shall linger on—forever. 4 Garold E. Fleecs DEDICATION  BILL r Bill Fulcher has spent fifteen years of dedicated service here at Sutherland High School. He has helped to mold the fu- ture of many and continues to do so. (Jill Haugland, Jon Main, Mike Fleecs, Cathy Fleecs, Dan Chamberlain) PRODUCED BY SPECIAL ARRANGEMENT WITH BAKER'S PLAYS . . .AT THE ALL- SCHOOL PLAY AND DINNER THEATER A mansion on a lonely island .... A baffling murder .... These elements of the typical whodunit combined to create the comic mystery play The Butler Did It . The eccentric spinster Miss Maple invites a group of mystery writers to a lonely mansion on Turkey Island. Each writer is asked to play the part of the sleuth in his or her novels, and Miss Maple has a few typical mystery yarn surprises in store to enter- tain her guests. It seems that the fun and games are over, howev- er, when Rick Carlyle, the sophisticated New York writer, is murdered. ABOVE: Mean? It means murder. Miss Maple—murder on Turkey Island! (Larea Paulman, Jill Haugland, Dan Chamber- lain, Jon Main, Cathy Fleec , Mike Fleers; Dan Ruane in front of couch) LOWER LEFT; It's kept in the cellar, but obviously Mr. Fan felt the wheelchair should be taken upstairs to aid his ridic- ulous theory! (Jon Main, Tammy Wagon- er, Jill Haugland, Mike Fleecs) LOWER RIGHT: I'm dying . . . dying . . . dead! (Dan Ruane) Unfortunately, not one of the writers proves as adept as his or her detective character in determin- ing “whodunit. Only after endless wrong deduc- tions does the crew of would-be gumshoes learn that it was really Rick's twin brother who was mur- dered. Moments after this surprise discovery. Miss Maple's Maid, Haversham, reveals that she is really the beautifully dangerous Mabel Dupre. Mabel then makes a second attempt to wipe out Rick, who had jilted her. Thanks to the quick actions of Charity Haze, though, Mabel's murderous plan is foiled and she is taken into custody, bringing the play to its conclusion. It was held at the Elks Club in North Platte. The evening began at 7:30 p.m. Stacey Paulman gave a welcome speech, Rob Sandberg gave an acceptance speech, and Bobbie Jo Cawyer read the invocation. This was followed by a buffet-style dinner. Immediatley after the dinner Pat Fleecs and De- anna Barrett read the class prophecies and Cathy Fleecs read the Senior wills. The sophomore servers, Tammy White, Jeannie Kvanvig, Mike King, and Mark Miller, provided entertainment with a skit. Everyone took a short break before the band, Fable , began playing for the dance. Royalty was crowned by the servers later in the evening. Senior king and queen were Dan Cham- berlain and Cathy Fleecs. Junior attendants were Ken Kennedy and Sheila Fosbinder. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and the evening was a real success. 62 63 EIGHTH GRADE Scott Adkins Lisa Boggs Robert Broberg Steve Chamberlain Craig Cook Robyn Dancer Donald Douglas Karleen Grauerholz Ellen Hopping Debbie Jenson Johna Jochum Troy Johnson Scott Jones Brian Kvanvig Richard Lastoka Kelly Luther Mitzee Mangan Mick Margritz Aaron Martin Chuck Miller Tori Miller Ginger Nelson Megan Paulman Cindy Pierce John Riddell Amy Ruane George Smith Rhonda Stiver Lisa Wilcox Dawn Wisdom 68 SEVENTH GRADE Buck Boje Matt Burkland Jim Cawyer James Donoghue Holy Elfeldt Kathy Evans Robert Faling Liz Fleecs Shelley Funk Jim Hiatt Cindy King Debbie Kvanvig Matt Martinez Shawn Mcllnay Roger Miller Jon Moore John Murner Shelley Nedrig Pal Peters Jim Richter Mindy Sandberg Scott Schrotberger Julie Scott Chris Seerley Diane Smith Ronda Stiver Charles Ware Sam Watson Stacy Wick ware Karen Winkenwerder 69 70 Row 1 — Lisa Boggs — manager.
