v . v 9 'i, % ■ I 1 ( OrlE(AJO WE ARE ALL MORTAL” If we cannot end our differences, at least we can help make the world safe for diversity. For; in the final analysis, our most basic common link is that we all inhabit this small planet. We all breathe the same air. We all cherish our chil- dren’s future. And we are all mortal. cdfdm in LitzatLon Congratulations to the Graduating Class of '79. You have reached a mile- stone in your life that hopefully has the solid foundation for success in your future endeavors. Your contributions to the Sutherland school are appreciated and may these contributions and successes be a source of pleasant memories as you remin- isce in future years. May happiness and success be with each of you as you leave Sutherland High and pursue your life’s goals. Congratulations on completing one of lifes’ many obsta- cles. As you pursue your ambitions. I hope the memories of your high school years will be good ones. You have been a good class to work with and for during the past three years. Good Luck to all of you! 3 d zdccatCon Mike Troxel, Along with being a great teacher and coach, he is a good friend always ready to listen, not pass- es judgement but rather offering advice. With his quick wit and sense of humor, there is never a dull moment. Mike Troxel has always taken a personal interest in student activities and he has put a lot of time and effort into organizations. His boundless energy never ceases, and is inspiring to the rest of us. Mike Troxel has put forth great years of service to the school, as we all hope he will continue to do. This is why we the seniors of 1979 would like to dedicate this annual to Mike Troxel, for he best represents the ideals of our class. 4 zzccation Leadership is the other side of the coin of loneliness and he who is a leader must always act alone. And act alone, accept everything alone.” Ferdinand Edralin Marcos Mr. Richman found truth in these words being the principal here at S.H.S. Through the years, he often acted alone and though it may have been hard, he stood by his decisions. On this page we would like to show our appreciation for the man who helped mold our lives during our high school years. Always ready with understanding and a smile. 5 Front Row, Left to Right: Mr Deal, High School English Mr. Fatenau, Social Studies Head Basketball Coach Mr. Dossett, Physical Education, Assistant Basketball Coach Mr. Broberg, Industrial Arts, Head Football and Track Coach Mr. Sodcrholm, Art, Head Volleyball Coach, Girls’ Track Coach Second Row; Mr. Troxel, Jr. High Science, Biology, Jr. High Basketball and Football Coach, Asst. We welcomed him with open arms and thankful hearts too. Our own little Scotty, that’s who. Who shared his love unsparingly with two sisters and two brothers And brought great joy and happiness to his father and his mother. Who loved to help his dad the whole day through Our own busy little Scotty, that’s who. Who could take a toy truck, a shovel and some ground And build himself the finest farm anywhere around. Who loved the out- of-doors and found so much there to do. Our fun-loving little Scotty, that’s who. Who loved the water very much and went swimming every day Who’d ever guess at nine years old he’d lose his life that way. Who could take the grayest skies and turn them into blue Our beloved little Scotty, that’s who. Who’d be standing now with the class of 79 It would be our Scotty strong and tall and fine. Who’d be wishing, God’s richest blessings to each of you” Our own special Scotty Dean, that’s who. Feb. 28, 1979 By Lois L.
