I RvtfcUJWtff Cfiwiu ty This, the year 1976, means our class of 28 seniors will have the memories of graduating in the bicentennial year - two hundred years since the birth of America. Being American means that we have been blessed with many freedoms, among them the opportunity to attend Sutherland Ele- mentary and High School. We live in an America which is the fairest, rich- est, and freest of all countries; but, as we approach the tricentennial, we find a very chal- lenging and changing world. We hope that we will be able to apply our education and training in pro- viding the leadership necessary to maintain our world as one of which we can continue to be proud and which will still be one of the fairest, richest, and freest of all countries - our America. SU f SNO-A-WHITE Main Street Sutherland, Nebr. lA tfifecuw Pultalus b William Fulcher has become a familiar face in Sutherland. His mild manner and friendly personality have been a help to all who seek his guidance. We realize this is a very small way of saying ’’Thank you” to someone who goes beyond his office and teaching duties for the welfare of others. We, the Senior Class of '76, hope that this will show our appreciation for all the things he has done to help us solve our difficulties and for the concern he has shown in helping us to plan for our future. He gives so much of himself to us and to the entire school. 197 AmjuuoJbQtct{fo — We wish to remember and include a picture of Kirk Minshull on these pages with our annual- staff members. Kirk, a class member for the first six grades, had shown intelligence, tal- ent, and leadership. Our memories are sad because we realize our great loss. We must all have our quota Our portion and share Of crosses to carry And no one knows God Through joy alone, It takes pain and suffering To make us His own. - Helen Syeiner Rice ' 'L xcfe t lup cudi CUb Ope ujfc£toW ' Annual Staff Editors FRONT: Dan Rasby, Junior Editor; Mrs. Bab- bitt. A(kn M You are now passing from a sheltered chapter of your life and entering young adulthood where you determine your life course. May your choice of pursuits bring you success and satisfac- tion. Each senior class, has numerous members that have worked hard to reach personal goals and to help make Sutherland a better school. I take this opportunity to express not only my appreci- ation, but also all of those that have worked with you. May I extend my best wishes for your success and happiness in the endeavors of your choice. Superintendent Best wishes are extended to the class 1976 as our country enters the third century. I wish the stu- dents and faculty of SHS the very best for the future. My tenure at Sutherland will be left this spring. I hope from time to time you will remember the years we worked together for your education High School Principal Mr. Ferguson will be moving to Giltner, Nebr. to take the job of being superintendent. Mr. Ferguson has been principal at SHS for five years. We will miss him and wish him much success in his new surroundings. Congratulation to the 76 Senior Class upon suc- cessfully attaining one of your goals. Upon reaching the goal you have also reached a bicentennial year. May you all have satisfaction by continuing a maximum effort in everything you attempt to do in the future. Elementary Principal STOCKMANS VET CLINIC G. V. THOMPSON D.V.M. The $364,394 addition was started before the close of the 1975 school year and was ready for occupancy when school started on September 2. The new addition consisted of six carpeted and air-conditioned classrooms for the first six grades, a large industrial arts and drafting area, and a section for the vocal music and band. This area also included two practice rooms and an office. The area that had contained the industrial arts was rennovated and was finished on February 23 to hold the science department classrooms. The new area contained ten work stations with electrical outlets, sinks and ample storage space. Each station will be used by two students but will be capable for four to use. The new addition will be used for more labs, enable changes in the curriculum, and has chemical storage rooms for special projects. — VoMidtwiicwi omL lA fe f-fOtUVo golufoto Boys' 74 Darrell Anderson - 1976 Salutatorian Doug Jochum - Cornhusker Boys’ State John Harshfield - 1976 Valedictorian______________Carmie Beveridge - Girls' State HEUBNER'S FARM AND GARDEN SUPPLY CO. 8th and Poplar and Westfield Shopping Center North Platte, Nebraska President Vice President Secretary-Treasurer Pur.
