COMMENCEMENT 1972 Commencement exercises were held at Sutherland High School on Sunday, May 14, 1972. Rick Kinnaman was named val- edictorian with a grade average of 94.20, Paul Grow was named salu- tatorian with a grade average of 93,96. Mike Borron was the honor graduate. Recipient of the $400 Community Scholarship was Cecelia Oliveros. First alternate was Mark Kendall and second alternate was Ron Taylor. This scholarship is given annually by the Sutherland Chamber of Com- merce, Lions Club, and American Legion. Mark Kendall was presented a $100 scholarship from the American Legion Auxiliary. First alternate was Ron Taylor and second alternate was Cecelia Oliveros. A grant of $900 to the University of Nebraska was given to Mike Bor- ron. Barb Fear received the DAR award. The Elks Leadership Award of $50 was given to Ann Rotert. The Readers Digest Award was given to Rick Kinnaman. 24
