THE LOG PRESENTED BY THE SENIOR CLASS OF 1970 SUTHERLAND HIGH SCHOOL SUTHERLAND, NEBRASKA A new decade was ushered in with 1970. Also, a new generation's ideals are now being felt strongly. This is why we have chosen change” as the theme for our annual. It is inevitable that the new generation will change” some of the beliefs of the past and present. Our desire is that this change” will be towards the betterment of our society. We, along with the rest of the seniors, would like to thank everyone who has helped us with our education and has hopefully given us the insight to make these changes” wisely. We would also like to thank the annual staff for their dedicated work. A special thanks goes to Mrs. Babbitt, who put much time and effort into this annual. We hope that the account of the small segment of your life given in this an- nual will provide many lasting memories. 2 DEDICATION MRS. MARY LEE CROSBY We, the Seniors of 1970, proudly dedicate the 70 Log” to Mrs. Mary Lee Crosby. She has helped us through the trying years of high school - not only through Home Economics, pep club, and the library, but as a warm tender-hearted person. If we had a problem, she was willing to listen and try to help solve it. She was always there when we needed her. Many factors contribute to make up our” Mrs. Crosby; a warm smile, gentle hand, and understanding manner. In this we pay honor to Mrs. Mary Lee Crosby 3 FAIRMONT FOOD COMPANY North Platte ANNUAL ORGANIZATION ANNUAL STAFF FRONT ROW: Business Manager, P. Seifer; Assistant Editor, T. Joch- um; Editor, R. They traveled to the Denver area by way of a chartered bus. Upon reaching Canon City, Colo., the bright-eyed Seniors ate breakfast and continued on to the Royal Gorge. Here the Seniors observed the deep canyons, beautiful scenery, and rode on the world's steepest incline railway. Returning to Canon City, the next stop was the State Prison. Visits were also made to the zoo in Colorado Springs, and the Air Force Academy, outside of Colorado Springs. Later that day, the 1970 Seniors checked into the Denver Hilton Hotel, accompanied by their five sponsors. Throughout the weekend the Sen- ior’s activities included the Celebrity Lane's, where they could bowl, swim, play pool, play pinball, or etc. At the Taylor Supper Club the Seniors enjoyed a fancy evening meal and the floor show. The Seniors held a picnic in the Look-Out Mountains, visited the Wax Museum, Cinderella Shopping Center, the Red Rocks, and were visited by the Denver Vice-Squad. Upon returning home the Seniors visited the Stapleton Air Port. 22 i ia Watch out! Here comes Margaret's mother and she hates wintergreen! I can see where I'm erasing, but not where I'm typing.
