For more than a quarter of a century, Sutherland High School has stood as a center of learning in our community. Hundreds of students have gone out from this school to take their place in colleges, voca- tions and jobs. The records of achievement which they have left be- hind and the measures of success which have come to them, indicate that Sutherland High School was and is an institution of learning of which any community might be proud to call its own. And so, in appreciation to their guidance, understanding, confi- dence, encouragement and all who have helped to maintain our school; to every teacher who has taught in the class rooms; to our parents who have inspired us; to the principals who have guided us; and to this community which has supported us. To all of this, we, the Senior Class of '59, want to dedicate this annual. H. S. will the 3 Binegar girls, Jean, Janice and Jane, to carry on the Binegar name for as many years as it takes them to fulfill this. I also will my ability to go out with and get along with the boys to Virginia K. as she has such a hard time of finding a boy friend. I, MARION DIKE, will my athletic ability to Sam White, and my ability to get along with girls to Peache as I think he needs it. I will my ability to be a BROWNIE to the Junior girls so they can get passing grades. I, JUDY FLANNIGAN, being too weak to continue will all of my Brains” to my little sister so she won't have to stay home from music clinics like I did and will my good looks to Bill Houser since he likes them so much. I also want to will all of my scholarships and 4-H ribbons to Marilyn Moore as she will never have the privilege of receiving any. I, BERNARD GOEDERT, being weak period, will my ability to play football to my little brother if it will help him any, and my D average to anyone who doesn’t like to study. I, JERRY WIER, will my ability of getting teased to Peachy and I also will my ability of getting along with girls to Peachy so he will slow down. I will my ability to get along with the English teacher to Bill H. I, GARY CHASE, will my height to little Don F. so he can kiss his girl- friend, Karen Marrs. I, JERRY THOMPSON, will my ability to get along with girls to Peache as I think he needs it very much and my ability to make points at basketball games goes to any player who wants it. I, KEITH FUNK, being of sound mind and weak body, do hereby will my weight to Bob Q. as he is so thin and my mild manners to Virgil N. because he is so wild. I, SHARON SADLE, will my long wavy hair to Diane Coker since hers is so short and curly. I also will my tallness to Karen M. since she needs the growth. I, JERRY BOWDEN, will my ability to stay home and away from girls at nights to my two younger brothers, Dick and Mick, so that they won't spend all of their money. I also will my ability to argue with my dad to all of bfc students of next year so that they can get better grades from him than I did. Prophecy MARION DIKE has had to change his pet peeve, Browny, in order to fulfill his ambition to make money. After marrying his boss's daughter he is now Vice President of the White Oil Inc. and the biggest browny in the company. JERRY THOMPSON always wanted to become a veterinarian but after his knee operation he decided to become an M. D. Jerry now pursues his pet peeve, loafing, and we see him every day loafing around the hospital with the nurses. KEITH FUNK is now completing a jail sentence for assaulting a game warden. He always did have trouble with them. The warden caught Keith in the act of poaching. He was poaching duck eggs stolen from the river. JUDY FLANNIGAN always liked music and wanting to be a secretary is now the singing secretary of Elvis Presely. If she isn't careful she's going to get fired for selling more records than Elvis. BERNIE GOEDERT is now working with his dad in the Sutherland Electric Com- pany. He finally married and now has several little doctors and electricians running around the house. JERRY WEIR after completing four years of college, we find Jerry has formed a corporation with his father-in-law and they are now producing Glazed Doughnuts. Jerry says, If you can't lick em, join em.” GARY CHASE while working on a highway construction crew as a senior de- cided there were too many curves in the Alcan Highway, so he is now head man of L. C. M. S. Construction Company, ’’ which is now completing the job. L. C. M. S. - Less curves and more straightaways, Gary always did like his drag races. MARIE BINEGAR, we find is in a very happy home, consisting of her husband and her mother. You see Marie never was what you'd call a good cook, so her mother helps her out once in a while. JERRY BOWDEN, after graduating from S. H. S. decided to end his bachelor career by marrying that famous movie star Sharon Sadie. While Sharon is busy putting Jerry through college, she is also busy taking care of her immediate family. And by the way, Jerry is just as big a brownie in college as he was in high school. SHARON SADLE, after her marriage to Jerry Bowden is now a faithful housewife and mother of 3 blonde-headed children. P. S. They need 2 more for a good basketball team, says Jerry. Moore, D. Richards, H. Beveridge, S. Arnold, B. Moore, R. Quimby, G. Morris, D. Thomsen, L. Hoatson. The Sutherland F.F.A. Chapter began the school year under the leadership of Jerry Thompson, president; Marion Dike, vice president; James Eshleman, secretary; Jerry Weir, treasurer; Dale Dike, reporter; and Bill Houser, sentinel. The first major activity of the chapter was to conduct a slave sale at one of the home football games. This proved to be a very successful activity, netting approxi- mately $160.00. After working hard to build up the chapter funds the recreation committee planned a party and while the fall evenings were still warm the chapter and their dates had an evening hay ride and weiner roast. On February 20, five F.F.A. members went to North Platte to enter the district 7 contests, winning red ribbons in creed speaking and demonstration. On March 10, 16 boys attended the District 7 contests at Curtis where the livestock judging team won the first place team banner. April 9,10,11, twelve boys attended the state contests and convention held at Lin- coln, Nebraska. Jerry Thompson was raised to the degree of state farmer at the con- vention. April 15, 1959, the F.F.A. held the annual Parent-Son Banquet. The theme was F.F.A. yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Films were shown of the F.F.A. members projects and activities, and the new officers were installed. New officers are: James Eshleman, president; Dale Dike, vice president; Garry Morris, secretary; Harold Beveridge, treasurer; Robert Quimby, reporter; and Sandy Arnold, sentinel.
