Senior Class Prophecy Ten years have passed since a truly fine class has graduated, so let's look around and see what the Seniors of 1958 are doing. DON DIKE - is now the head of Dike, Dike, and Dike Super-Duper Seedcorn Co. He successfully crossed jumping beans with com and now all you do is drive the wagon down the row and the com will jump into the wagon. GRETTA QUIMBY - Her homemaking abilities have paid off for she is now not only Mrs. Anderson but also Mrs. America of 1968. LARRY EVANS - with his scientific mind made a space ship soon after graduating from S. H. S. and is now on his sixth trip to the Moon. PAT SANDBERG - has taken over his uncle's turkey farm and is now raising turkeys for people in a five state area. KAREN NITSCHE - star of the S.H.S. volleyball team, has won fame and fortune with her athletic abilities. She is to represent the U. S. and Sutherland in the Olympics by playing on the Volleyball team. RAYMOND JOCHUM - an active member of the class of '58 Fender-Bender Club is now a prominent South-side farmer and is married and raising six little fender benders. ROLAND SANDBERG - Lincoln County Commissioner, is still trying to straighten out some of those curves in the road between his farm and town. JERRY HAUGLAND - has always had a flair for figures, he is now an accountant in Omaha and still drives Chryslers, and wears sporty clothes. JOSEE ELFELDT - went into nursing and during World War in won the award for the best bedside nurse because of her bedside attention. MARY ANN HOLMSTEDT - with her great scholastic abilities went to college and became a commercial teacher. She is now teaching in Vassar College. JERRY COMBS - is the President of a Jack-hammer and False Teeth Co's. He is now a family man with three blond girls. ROBERT WHITE - was awarded a medal last week by the Safe Drivers Club of America, for being the world's safest driver. Bob has changed, Huh. WAYNE KING - owns the largest farm in Nebraska. He bought his two sons a doctor's kit and they are following in theit grandfather's footsteps. LARRY GOEDERT - was sued by the IBM Corp. because no one was buying IBM machines. Everyone was going to Larry to solve their problems. GARY WOODEN - still has a craving for speed. He is a test pilot and gets paid by the Mile Per Hour he travels. Gary is getting rich. Combs ran one TD and kicked one extra point. The Sailors romped over Lodge Pole 40-7. Jerry Combs ran three TD's and kicked four extra points, while passing to J. Bowden for three TD's. The Sailors sailed past St. Patricks 32-7. J. Combs ran two TD's and kicked two extra points, while passing to J. Bowden for two TD’s and passing to J. Thompson for one TD. The Sailors squeezed past Paxton 33-27. J. Combs ran two TD’s and kicked three extra points. Combs also passed to J. Bowden and J. Thompson for a TD apiece. J. Thompson also ran one TD. The Sailors swamped Stapleton 39-0. J. Combs ran three TD's, kicked one extra point and passed to G. Wooden for an extra point. R. Jochum ran for two TD's, and two H. Beveridge to B. White passes clicked for a TD and an extra point. The Sailors took an easy win from Big Springs 44-14. J. Combs ran one TD, kicked two extra points and passed to G. Wooden for two TD's. M. Dike picked up a fumble and ran for a TD, while J. Thompson ran for three TD's for the night. The Sailors suffered their only set back to Brady 18-0 The Sailors threatened five times but couldn't score. The Sailors received a forfeit win from Wallace because of illness on the Wallace Team. The Sailors won seven and lost one. They were Co-Champions in the Lincoln County Conference. The Sailors were ranked in sixth place in the State for eight-man football teams by the Omaha World-Herald. The queen, Mary Ann Holm- stedt, and the king, Jerry Combs, were crowned at the halftime ceremonies. A Homecom- ing Dance was held at the community hall sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce. At the end of the year we had a joint banquet with the Letter Club at North Platte. The uniforms are white blouses and red four-gore skirts. first Zeam Cheerleaders Left to right: Mary Ann Holmstedt, Josee Elfeldt, Marie Binegar, Sharon Sadie. The cheerleader uniforms for football were red bell-bottom slacks and white blouses with red jackets and red and white detachable hoods. For basketball they wore red skirts with white inserts on each side and white fitted blouses trimmed in red. The skirts were lined with white satin. Both outfits were made of corduroy. They wore red and white saddle shoes. Second Zeam Cheerleaders MARILYN BAYNE and MARILYN MOORE The second team cheerleaders wore white corduroy bell-bottom slacks and red sweaters for football and red and white polka dotted sailor dresses with lacey red petticoats for bas- ketball. The Fresh - men had to wear their bobby-sox pulled up to their knees with green bows. They had their hair in small pig tails tied with green bows, and had a sign with GAA on it tied around their necks. The Freshman girls gave a fashion show after supper modeling dresses made of burlap sacks. The girls spent most of their time playing volleyball, softball, and tumbling. Chapter placed seventh in the Grassland’s Hereford show held at North Plane, Nebraska. A ten acre com test plot proved to be a successful money making activity for the chapter. It was not 6nly successful from a monetary value but from experience as well. The chapter cleared $444 and proved it does pay to apply the right kind of fertilizer. The Parliamentary team won a red ribbon at the District Contest held at Wauneta, Nebraska. Jim Holm won a red ribbon in Creed Speaking. Jerry Thompson won a red ribbon on his Treasurer’s book. Jerry Haugland won a white ribbon on his Secretary’s book and a white ribbon on his record book. The Chapter is planning to enter the District Livestock Judging Contest to be held at Curtis, Nebraska on March 14. The annual banquet for the F. F. A. bays and their parents will be held April 17. BOWDEN Our Student Council is composed of eight members, two from each class. Some of the functions that the Student Council sponsored were as follows: They bought and decorated the Christmas Tree. They sponsored a Christmas movie and passed out treats just before Christmas vacation. They are going to sponsor the Teens for Dimes helping to raise money for the March of Dimes. This Spring we had a Bum Day and then a Dress-up Day” the following week. Just before the close of school we will spon- sor an All-School Dance.
