Senior Skip Day The senior class of 1950 accompanied by their sponsor, Mr. Thelen, hung our class colors of green and white all over the town of Sutherland at twelve o’clock, midnight. We left Sutherland at two-thirty a. m. by four sponsored cars May 19. We arrived in Colorado Springs at eight o’clock Friday morning. We ate a hearty breakfast and started out for the famous Pikes Peak. After we had seen all the most important places, we left Pikes Peak at two o’clock p. m. and ate dinner. Then we ventured on to the Cave of the Winds,” and later went to see “The Cliff Dwellings, and we traveled along the Cheyenne Mountains Highway, to Broadmoor, Colorado. We ate supper and stayed over night at the Stratton Hotel in Colorado Springs. Some of us took in a show, but most of us turned in for the night. We arose early Saturday morning, ate a good breakfast of ham and eggs, then went to see the “Garden of the Gods. Then we ventured along the South Cheyenne Canon” and into Denver. Some of us did some shopping for souvenirs, and etc, and ate supper at six thirty. Then the happy, but tired group of seniors left Denver and headed for home. We all enjoyed this skip day very much, and we hope the seniors of the future years will have as much fun as we did wherever they go on their skip day. 11
