Sutherland Community Hi Presents The 1988 Tiger Duke Sutherland Community Schools Population: 122 Sutherland, Iowa Dedication Mrs. Pingel has taught 44 years, the last 21 years here in Sutherland, joining the Suther- land faculty in 1967. What has kept Bonnie doing what she does best for so long? She says, “One main reason that I’ve taught, is my love for children and wanting them to grow up with not only the best education they can have, but also to be the best kind of person they can be.” Sutherland students and parents will miss Bon- nie, but they will not forget her. Her love, mov- tivation, and desire will live on in the halls of the Sutherland Elementary building. We all wish her the very best in her retirement. 2 Dedication Pp. Cand. £ The Annual staff would like to dedicate the Athletic section of the 1988 Tiger Duke to Coach Dave Clayberg. Coach Clayberg, who has resigned his position as Head football coach, has coached football in Sutherland for 13 years. In those 13 years, Coach Clayberg brought the Tigers from last place finishes in the conference to Conference Champs and the 1983 State Championship. His overall record was 67 wins and 47 loses as the Tiger’s Leader. Coach Clayberg’s players have discovered the “secret of suc- cess” - long, hard hours of work, determination, and dedication. Through his example the people of Sutherland know that if there is a goal to be reached, Coach Clayberg will continue to strive to reach it.
