Kingsley received a five yard pen- ality in the third quarter which nullified a touchdown. Suther- land also lost a possible scoring chance in the same period be- cause of penalties Dwain Salzkorn was injured on the kickoff play and aia not re-enter the game. The game ended a scoreless tie. On September 17, Coach Christenson1 s Tigers met the primghar eleven on the home field. Statistics proved that the Tigers well earned the game although the game was scoreless until, with only minutes remaining, the Primghar team managed to throw a pass that resulted in a touchdown. Primghar won 6 to 0 over the Tigers. On September 21;, the Tigers chalked a 7 to 0 victory over Hartley. Jim Olhausen carried the ball over from the two yard marker for a touchdown. Joe Sweeney kicked the extra point. This was the first time Sutherland had defeated Hartley for a decade. October 1, found the Tigers playing Sanborn. The Tiger team seemed to go into a slump after beating the Hartley team w.io were the Souix Valley champs. The game ended in a scoreless tie. The Tigers only scoreing threat came in the first quarter when Ken V.oolston went over for a touchdown from the thirty-five yard line only to have the play nullified by a penalty. On October 8, Milford met the Tigers on the home field. Mil- ford went home with a defeat as the whistle blew with a II4 to 0 victory for the Tigers. Ken Woolston scored in the first period from the eight yard stripe. Larry Drekfe carried the ball from the 39 yard line to the I4. yard line and on the next play scored. Joe Sweeney kicked both extra points. Sutherland tromped over the Alta Cyclones, on October 15, to complete a successful Homecoming. The Tigers scored in the first and second quarters, to lead 12 to 0 at the half-time. Alta sc- ored its only tally in the third period. In the final period Ken Woolston went over for a touchdown and Joe Sweeney kicked the ex- tra point to make the final score 19 to 7.
