“SOPI-IDMORES SOPHOMORE CLASS HISTORY On the sunny morning of September 10, 1951, we found groups of bewitched, bothered and bewildered students known as Sophomores in Susquehannock Senior High School. These students from Southern York County mingled for the first time as a combined class, We numbered 104 and are now divided into three groups or homerooms. After several weeks of confusion our entire class assembled and chose the leaders for this school term: President, Margaret Mutch, Vice President, Mary Vanover, Secretary, Alma Harrell Treasurer, Joyce Hendrix, Historian, Lucy Ann Lutter. Several days later we selected student council members who are: Larry Nonemaker, Mary Vanover, and Edwin Amapacher. With the passing weeks we found our number decreasing, as seven of our members dropped by the wayside. Last October found the Sophomore class gathered together for their first social celebrating Halloween, Gaily checkered shirts and ruffled skirts swayed and frolicked in accompaniment to the lilting strains of square dance music. Along with the coming of November came the jacket salesman from Webb and Wolfe of York, Pennsylvania. We chose our class colors, Kelly green and White, and selected the iackets in these colors. There was quite a hub-hub when these arrived as now we possesed a genuine feeling of belonging with our school's name branded across our backs, A month passes, and a strange clicking sound can be heard. You guessed it, it's roller skates. Everyone is preparing for the Sophomore skating party at Playland. On a frosty night in December, we grouped together in a friendly Christmas spirit and exchanged gifts . Summing our trials and triumpsh, this has been a very profitable year for the Sophomore Class and we are eagerly awaiting our future years together.
