SABER TALES 1981 Susquehanna Valley High School Conklin, New York Table of Contents Table of Contents Principal's Corner Dedication Introduction Seniors Juniors Sophomores Faculty Activities Sports ertisements 1 2 3 4-17 18-51 52-67 68-81 82-95 96-123 124-152 153-155 156-168 I PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE It is with a great deal of pleasure that I address you, the class of 1981, who will be our twentieth class to graduate from Susquehanna Valley High School. As you go forth, you will enter a world where, as individuals, you will be required to know several times as much in order to keep informed, as our graduates of twenty years ago needed to know. Being educated today requires more than a superficial knowledge of the arts and sci- ences. It also requires a sense of interrelationship with your fellow man such as is taught in few schools. It is my fondest hope for you, that you have acquired this '‘sense in your years here at Susquehanna Valley. For in the final analysis, education today means preparation for world citizenship; which is in short, education for survival. The 1981 staff of the Saber Tales would like to recognize a fine teacher who has spent many long hours working to make our Susquehanna Valley High School yearbooks a success. For many years, Mr. Mayko has dedicated his time and tal- ents towards a fine yearbook. His patience and guidance have been greatly appreciated. With great pride, we dedi- cate our yearbook to Mr. Joseph Mayko. 3 4 5 6 7 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 O) Steven Airwyke Lisa Albrechta Sherri Albrechta Amy Alden Leonard Aldrich Bonnie Allen Karen Allen John Andrews Denise Baer Laura Baier Leslie Baker John Banick James Barnes Denise Beamer Robert Black Jodi Blaisure Kelli Bocock Karen Bordenet Mike Bowel I Kevin Bowman Al Bryan Vicky Bullock Mark Burdick Charles Burns Michele Canfield Shaun Carnevale Jill Carpenter David Chambers Jody Cipolla Diane Clark Joe Coddington Kate Corkery 21 Brian Dare James Dattoria Kelly Davern Scott Davis Kris Dimmick Michael Day Kathleen Decker Jalynn Dodd Patricia Donahue John Drake Timothy Eastman Sandra Edwards Kenneth Elliot Suezette Elliot Kurt Falkenberg Victor Faconti 22 Joe Fancher Karen Fetterman Mike Finney Amy Forsyth Ray Frantellizzi David Gardner Pat Gerdus Kevin Giguere Gloria Glas Debbie Glen Kathy Golden Steve Gregory Sharon Guley Lori Hammond Pam Harris Mary Hartigan 23 Susan Hastings 26 Thomas Hull Greg Huntly Dave Ingalls Paula Ives Chris Jones Diana Jones Thomas Kaczmarek Jerry Kimmel David Klinko Maria Knapp Dennis Kovach Sheryl Kron Mark Landis Timothy Lane John Lash Kathy Lee John Levchak Linda Lewis John Liptack Irene Lockwood Patricia Loeffler Thomas Loveria Michael Manzer Tammy Mapes Debbie Martin Michael McEwan Katherine McGuire Donna McMahon Sandra Mead Sonia Marritt 27 Harley Milks Debbie Miller Barry Mohney Steven Moyer Cheryl Nabywaniec Anthony Nanni Marianne Novack Amy Officer Brian Osterhout Timothy Page Sandra Page Linda Palencar Patrick Palmer Barbara Pappas Cynthia Parker Donna Pflanz Trudie Pittsley 28 Karen Pleus Gerald Potash Ellen Pupillo Teresa Quain Karen Quick Karen Ransom Vicki Rawding Kimberly Riley Frank Roberts William Roberts Cheryl Robinson Scott Robinson Lee Ann Roe Kimberly Salvemini Robin Sammon Kimberly Santi 29 Christine Schnurbusch Dwayne Schoonmaker Donna Searles Tami Shields Robert Silvanic Linda Skiba Cheryl Soyke Karen Stevens Laurie Stringer Coreen Stymacks Mary Beth Summers Michael Talerico Heidi Talucci Martin Tarbox Steven Taylor Kimberly Terrell 30 Barr Terry Jay Tompkins Vince Torto Neil Turcotte Theresa Turock Paul Tyler Michael Van Atta Mari Van Fleet Richard Van Savage Elizabeth Van Vorce Dawn Vining Susanne Wager Joyce Wallace Karen Walsh Michael Warner Robin Warner 31 Elliot Washburn Timothy Whalen Daniel Whitcomb Kimberly Whitesell Timothy Whitesell Susan Wiegand Daniel Wilcox Suzan Williams Eugene Wilmarth Eva Witteman BECOMING May you never be so dissatisfied; with what you are that you wish you weren’t Yet, may you never be so content with what you’ve been that you miss the opportunity to become. Allison Chestnut Mike Osterhout Stanley Prentice The Circus There's no carousel if it doesn't go round. There’s no love if it can’t be found. There’s no forest if it has no fawn. There’s no day if it doesn't have a dawn. There's no circus if it has no clowns. And you know I’d never do anything to bring you down. There’s no summer if it doesn't have a June. There’s no song if it doesn't have a tune. There’s no winter if you don't have snow. And there’s something else I think you should know. There’s no pair if you don’t have two. They have per- formed at the Christmas Tree ceremony at the Court House, and they’ve presented their annual Christmas Concert. Last year the Chorus went to NYSSMA competition and received a mark of A+ on a grade 5 piece of music. This is the highest mark received in music competition at S.V. Chorus is a growing organization, and they are always open to new members. Ensemble Members Row 1: K. Gardner. A. Bresnan. P. Wil- liams. L. VanVorce. M B. Summers. Row 2: K. Bocock. M. Warner. R.
