The student body of Susquehanna University proudly dedicates the 1987-88 edition of the Lanthorn to Dr. Bruce L. Nary ( that ' s ' N ' as in ' Nancy, ' ' a, ' ' r, ' ' y ' , as he often tells his students). A native of Biglerville, PA, Dr. Nary received his B.S. degree from Ithaca College (NY) and his M.A. and Ph.D., with a major in Theatre, from the University of Mich- igan. He is married to the former Dorla Bushnell of Newark Valley, NY. Dorla says that Dr. Nary would not marry her until he received his master ' s degree, but it was she who typed all of his doctorate work! A former school teacher, Dorla holds music degrees from Syracuse University and Northwestern University. Before arriving at Susquehanna in 1960, Dr. Nary taught at Margaretville Central School (NY) and at the University of Michigan. Currently, he teaches various theatre, acting, and directing courses at S.U. He also directs the winter theatre production each year in Ben- jamin Apple Theatre and chose Shakespeare ' s A Mid- summer Night ' s Dream to perform this year. He is a member of the Speech Association of America, the American Educational Theatre Association, Theta Alpha Phi, and is a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps. He has played an active role in the Susquehanna Sum- mer Study at Oxford program and has served as the president of the Theatre Association of Pennsylvania (TAP). Dr. Nary ' s philosophy, as he often tells his actors, is Don ' t complain, don ' t explain. Just do it. Thank you, Bruce Nary, for sharing your love of theatre with the students of Susquehanna.
