Dedication Does this person seem familiar? Well for some they may think he is just another student on campus, but for most of Susquehanna University ' s staff, faculty and student body know him as Dr. John H. Longaker, Jr., professor of history. Dr. Longaker is a native of Camden, N.J., and attended public schools in Pottstown, Pa. He received his B.A. from Lafayette College, and holds a M.A. and Ph.D degrees from the University of Pennsylvania. Since his arrival at Susquehanna in 1962, he has been awarded various honors for his outstand- ing teaching and service to the campus community. In 1965 and 1969 he was named Professor of the Year by vote of the student body and in 1974 he was se- lected by his peers on the faculty as recipient of the Lindback Foundation Outstanding Teacher Award. Dr. Longaker currently is the head of the history department, and campus coordinator for the Woodrow Wilson Visiting Fel- lows Program. Susquehanna University is proud to say that Dr. Longaker is part of our campus community, and for this we dedicate this 1987 edition of the Lanthorn to you. Dr. John H. Longaker, Jr. We really do appreciate all the years and dedication that you have given us over the years.

are the source of one another, Just as tiny streams know that the the river is their neverending source. Without the river, the streams would run dry, Just as I would be empty without you. As we sit here on the river bank, I do not see the little boy fishing or the back ebb created by a circle of rocks. Instead, I see an endless river gliding onward and forward. Just as our friendship has been and always will be. — Patricia J. Scotton
