Dedication Joel Luther Cunningham came to Susquehanna University in 1979 as Vice President of Academic Affairs, Dean of the Faculty, and Professor of Mathematics. In 1984 he was named Acting President and on September 29, 1985 he was inaugurated as the Thir- teenth President of the University. Throughout his years of service, Dr. Cunningham has maintained a genuine concern for the University as a whole, and in so doing, has gained the respect and confidence of both the faculty and the students. He has the ability to motivate people to realize their full potential and has even been called the Vince Lombardi of Presidents. For all your years of service and your genuine concern for the University, we dedicate this 1986 edition of the Lanthorn to you, President Joel Luther Cunningham. We really do love that man behind those funny little glasses. 30
