DEDICATION Learning does not solely depend upon the knowledge one receives from textbooks, but it develops through an expansion of the self— for the self can only expand through an involvement with life. An involvement for which we seek the guidance and assistance of others. One such individual who is involved with life, and the hves of students, is Mr. James B. Steffy. For his intense involvement with Susquehanna we dedicate this 1971 Lanthorn to him. Mr. Steffy received his masters in music education from Pennsylvania State University and has taught at Susquehanna since 1959. He has risen to the position of associate professor and head of the music department. Mr. Steffy ' s involvement in campus life includes being director of the Symphonic Band, the Marching Brass and Percussion, and the Brass Ensemble. He was also instrumental in the winning of a first place award in Kerkrade by the Symphonic Band. He is also director of the new Camp de Musique International for high school students. In dedicating the 1971 Lanthorn, we wish to acknowl- edge the time and effort which Mr. Steffy has contrib- uted to Susquehanna.
