the old order changeih, yielding place to new; and god fulfills himself in many ways, lest one good custom should corrupt the world. —TENNYSON It has been said that the only permanent thing in this world is change. The class of ' 67 has experienced four years of change here at Susquehanna. The curriculum has been strengthened, three new buildings have beeen added in- cluding the 1.8 million dollar chapel-auditorium, Steele Hall was completely renovated, while G. A. Hall was gutted in a spectacular fire. The president of our country was assassinated, war broke out in Viet Nam, while men were walking in space. In this year ' s LANTHORN, we are presenting this theme of change. In our art work, copy, and layout, we have tried to express the idea of innovation, transition, and modification. I am grateful for the work of Ken Stoker, who put in many hours on the dividers depicting the four college years of the class of ' 67, to Mr. Stocker, who supplied many of our pictures, to Mr. Tamke, for his patience and assistance, and to the rest of my staff. We hope you enjoy our book. K. DEDICATION TO: Howard E. DeMoU Nearly twenty years ago, a man joined the Susquehanna faculty to teach in the University ' s Department of Science. He later took over as chairman of the Division of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, and at present is chairman of the Biology Department. A native of Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania, he holds the bachelor of science degree from Bloomsburg State College and the master of science from Bucknell University. Under a National Science Foundation faculty fellowship, he earned his Ph.D. at the Uni- versity of Virginia, doing much of his work at its Mountain Lake Biological Station. A familiar figure to all students at Susquehanna, he serves as marshal of the faculty and carries the University ' s academic mace at convocations and commencements. In recognition of your achievements as a scholar, as one who understands the problems of the student, and as one who has given many years of service to Susquehanna University, we are proud and honored to dedicate the 1967 LANTHORN to you.
