in memoriam ANN POTTEIGER Intensely engrossed in her dearest passion, art, Ann Potteiger instilled a strong feeling for art into her stu- dents. A sense of interest and excite- ment surrounded her, since she had a vast wealth of knowledge to share with others. Through her benevolent and understanding attitude was won a deep student respect. She believed in the encouragement of each stu- dent in America to develop his tal- ents to the fullest to make this a cul- turally blossoming land. JOHN SLATER Before the spirit of a man who dared to live so fully and courage- ously, the meaningless void of Death was swept away. That to which we are truly committed is what we truly love, he said. His zest for life brought the meaning of such love into the life of each person who knew him. That which will remain forever is the faith in a vision of Truth which he gave us. Let us hope that we have become enkindled in mind and spirit from the spark of his genius.

dedication to dr. benjamin lotz After orientation was over and adjustment to SU began, the class of 1965 learned to expect a cheery Howare ya? or Wie geht ' s? from an old man in a dark coat, with briefcase, almost anywhere on campus. Surprising students into attending lec- tures, cajoling them to concerts, everyone benefited to their own amazement. Prodding, questioning: How do you define a chair, Mr. Jones? , and mak- ing us think for ourselves, he could be found in chap- el, in the classroom, and the snackbar; in short, where the students were. On shorts: Deine Hose sind abgeschnitten! A Benny-Test became the byword for another bat- tle of wits. He has seemingly tirelessly given most of his time to teaching, attending lectures, concerts, and organizing chapel services. To Benny, Dr. Ben- jamin Lotz, we dedicate the 1965 LANTHORN.
