zTT hour short years ago, the present senior class entered Susquehanna University. That same year a new president arrived on campus also. Since then Susquehanna has progressed to new heights — both in physi- cal facilities and academic attainment. A man dedicated to the advancement of higher education, and whose talents are innumerable, has been the mainstream source of energy in promoting all these projects. His achievements have gained for Susquehanna far more than mere words can express. Therefore, it is with a great deal of pride and pleasure that the 1963 LANTHORN is dedicated to Dr. Gustave W. Weber in behalf of bis first graduating class — the Class of 1963. 6e6ication

the UnthoRn fOR the CLASS Of 1963 SUSQUEHANNA UNIVERSITY • SELINSGROVE, PENNSYLVANIA College days are memorable days — for each individual in bis own particular way. Somehow, these jour years glide swiftly by and are soon a part of the past, yet never completely forgotten. The four seasons seem to emphasize this passage of time, as Mother Nature follows her course. And so we may correlate the two, and express our years at Susquehanna in terms of the changing seasons. At tumnal breezes rush through the trees as the falling leaves cover the ground in a splendid array of color. So the neophyte freshman arrives on the college campus, delving into his studies with a full heart. The dormant seed of winter is merely sleeping in its silent state, as the sophomore involves himself more deeply into the aca- demic curriculum. The fresh spring bud takes a sneak preview of the world around as the junior becomes alive and more aivare of the miniature world of which he is an integral part. With careful planning and a watchful eye, the bud opens into the full bloom of summer. This final stage of growth sought after by every senior is a dream become reality. Emblazoned on the Crusader shield are the seasonal leaves. May they ever be a constant reminder of fond remembrances of golden days gone by. Barbara Stockalis Editor George Mowers Photo Manager
