The goal of Student Council S'68 was to strive to perpetuate in every student an interest in his school and community. The council worked to represent you, the student body. Activities set up to accomplish our goal were planned and coordinated by various committees on our council. I would like to take this time to thank my council and the student body for the spirit they exhibited in upholding the activities. Your pride was displayed when you maintained continuous interest in activities as Dixieland, the clean campus campaign, and especially your interest taken in the new clubs on campus. Student Council has accomplished much more than was ex- pected of them. This is due solely to the fact that the Student Council and the student body worked together as a unit. Thanks Again, Linda Butcher Inge Refnin Liz Louie Foreign Exchange Student Student Community Treasurer 28

STUDENT COUNCIL A number of hardworking council members have made their presence evident on the W'68 Student Council. Among the most vocal were Linda Butcher and Greg Iwataki Senior B and Senior A Presidents respectively. Their disagreements over the senior prom will long be remembered by fellow council members. Both faithfully represented their class throughout the semester. Another notable member of this semester's council was Ilene Rockman, the Dorseygram Editor. Ilene worked unceas- ingly to continue to turn out the school newspaper even though the Dorseygram Staff was undermanned and without its regular sponsor. Don Murphy, the Student Community Vice President was responsible for initiating a plan to reorganize the House of Representatives into districts. His idea will alleviate the crowded inefficient character of the present House of Reps. Don's imaginative thinking was characteristic of this semes- ter's council. Student Council this semester was under the able leader- ship of Bertran Cooper. His dedication to the school will be long remembered by teachers and fellow students. Bert is certainly a credit to his school and the oflice of Student Community President. Unfortunately the Student Council is often the brunt of campus jokes and criticism. However, it is the Dorsey Students only opportunity to exercise any control over events at Dorsey. Let's all attempt to support Student Council and make the already difficult job of the student leaders a bit easier. Bertran Cooper Student Body Pres.
