Dadurka, Manager E. Cotton, Manager H. Shiffer. VARSITY FOOTBALL The Don squad finished in third place this season. Our only defeats were by Fremont and Jefferson. Out of a total of 216 points, 60 were scored against us. Dorsey started out by downing San Pedro, 25-13, scoring all of our touchdowns in the first half. As the game continued, we held them to only two touchdowns and took our first league win. The Venice night game was a real test to our defense. We defeated them 20-O. In the annual Milkbowl game, we scored in every quarter against the Fairfax Colonels. We took the trophy with a 33-0 score. Our alumni viewed a 26-14 victory over our arch-rivals, the Los Angeles Romans. Los Angeles surprised us with a 74 yard touchdown run, but with the aid of Washington, Clark, Wade, Storey and Meeks, we came right back to win the game. We upset Manual Arts by a 13-7 score. This happened as a result of a few miscalculations on the part of Manual Arts. A recovered fumble in M.A.'s end zone gave us our first score, A pass thrown by Jay Clark to Kenny Washington in the fourth quarter gave us our winning touchdown. Our first defeat came after playing 59 minutes of championship ball against Fremont. Our Dons fell to Fremont, 7-6, in the last minute of play. If was a real heart-breaker for,the Dorsey rooters. Jefferson administered a second straight loss for the Dons by tripping us up, 19-O. This loss took us out of contention for the league title. We wound up the season by routing Washington, 33-0. Everyone played well and made this a great game with which to finish the season. Outstanding seniors for us this year were Ray Young, JaVance Brown, Walter Buncom, Robert Dixon, Donald Demps, Willie Cooper, Louie Curnett.
