The Dorsey eleven took a giant step toward its first Southern League crown as they downed their old rivals the Los Angeles Romans 26-2l. The win was the first over the Romans in six years. The Dons trailed 2l-lt? with only four minutes remaining in the contest. Then, with things looking almost hope- less, Vance Brown broke through to block a Los Angeles punt and Warren Stephenson scooped the ball and raced 30 yards for the game winning score. Lett end Chuck Trammell had a tremendous after- noon by scoring all three ofthe other Dorsey tallies. Mike Shaw also played a great game at both his oFtensive guard and defensive linebacker spots for the triumphant Dons. DORSEY 6 MANUAL ARTS l2 The varsity footballers sulTered their first loss in reg- ular season play at the hands of the Manual Arts Toilers in the last home contest of the season. The Dons held an early 6-O advantage until midway in the third period when the Toilers tied it up. With only two minutes of play remaining, a costly Dorsey fumble was picked up and returned all the way for the touchdown. The great passing combination of Kenny Washington to Chuck Trammell clicked for the Dons' one score. John Shaver and Mike Russo played an outstanding game with their great line play. DORSEY 20 FREMONT 32 The' Dons lost their second straight game of the league to the unbeaten Fremont Pathfinders and at the same time were eliminated from the Southern League Title race. Again the key to loss was too many mistakes. Fremont turned tour of Dorsey's mis- cues into touchdowns. All three Don tallies were scored by the aerial route. Kenny Washington to Chuck Trammell, Jay Clark and Charles Davis were the combinations which went for six pointers. Clark performed brilliantly with his great running and fine pass catching ability. He also booted the Don extra points. Other standouts were Warren Stephenson, Donald Demps, and Richard Wadlington.

The Don's were in full command all the way as the Generals stood helplessly by watching Dorsey's awesome offensive display. The tallies scored by Chuck Trammell, Rod- ney Wooton, Charles Davis, Warren Stephenson and Rufus Miller each scored two a piece. Kenny Washington booted the conversions while connect- ing for three aerials that went the route. The Gen- eraI's offense was crushed to a mere nothing, as it could muster but one first down. AF' .. DORSEY I4 FAIRFAX 6 Even with two long touchdown runs nullified by penalties, the Don varsity footballers managed to beat a good Fairfax team I4-6, in the final practice game of the year. Bobby Reed and Kenny Washing- ton scored both the Dorsey tallies, while Bob Craig and Rodney Wooton had their TD's called back. The Don's fine defensive unit came through in great style by holding the Colonials to a minimum amount of yardage. Good on defense were Jerry Fisher, Craig, and Frank Buncom.
