74W I985- I986 . Q - $ .r K . - v F5 . Memo 99W Anthony students traveled the world during the summer of 1985. Japan, Denmark, France, Czechoslovakia and Glacier Park in the United States are a few of the places our students explored as seen on these pages. Many other students traveled as well to numerous national parks, distant countries and cities, and of course neighboring states such as Wisconsin, North and South Dakota, and Iowa. Lake cabins in northern Minnesota also welcomed many of us to weeks of swimming and sunbathing and just goofing off in the warm weather of July and August. . mum .l 42'? 7;. On that date 53 rock musicians gathered on either side of the Atlantic in London and in Philadelphia, to perform a benefit concert for the starving people of West Africa. They performed for 17 hours for a viewing audience of at least 1 billion people. The concert earned about 50 million dollars in donations. Learning about yearbooks, layouts, photography, mug shots, presales, advertising, financing, fund raising, copywriting, choosing print styles, indexing, and checking and double checking every detail were other tasks Anthonian staffers had to learn. Meeting usually two afternoon per week, it required the efforts of thirty-five students plus one advisor from September to the following March to put together this year's spectacular book. Following the motto of we're all in this together, a team effort produced not only a great product but many great moments of fun and comaraderie as well. We hope you enjoy looking at our efforts. We Are Participants - 11K; Concert Choir The Anthony Concert Choir composed of eighth grade students displayed their talents this year in the annual Winter Concert and also in writing and producing their own original stage production about human rights and human feelings. Their director, Mr. Frank Blanchard, and Mr. John Fenn, the public schools writer in residence, helped students in the writing and producing of the stage show. Singing, choreography, acting, and stage production techniques were skills every choir member had to learn. It was an interesting and challenging year for these talented students. People walk around with bent knees and students try to schuss down slopes of green grass. But after the first good snowfall, the Anthony Ski Club piles on buses and follows their leader, Mr. Richard Rumppe, the ski ciub advisor, and heads for Afton Alps Ski Area. There they spend an afternoon and evening speeding down icy slopes, chaieting for food and laughs, and screaming and yelling on buses. Other skiers take off on Wednesday afternoons with cross country adivsor, Mr. Dennis Hayden, to explore local parks and ski trails. Learning to ski is great and being with your friends is the best fun of all! Top right: Cerise Washington and Anne Peterson stop for a moment to chat.
