Flashback What better way to start out the long, dreary school year than by flashing back to the summer's lively activities that were so well enjoyed and are now so solemnly missed. A popular pastime with guys and gals was canoeing. The many lakes 1 in the area such as Lake Harriet. Lake Calhoun, and Lake Nokomis provided a nice setting for this and other amusements including sailing, tanning, picnicking, fishing. and swimming. Most of the canoers spent more time in the water than on it! Of course, there were a few who went with a quiet, peaceful after- noon of drifting with the current. But whether your choice was peaceful relaxation or just getting drenched, it sure made for good summer fun! Top left, left to right: Amelia Kline. Jenny Anderson, l.iz Robinson. and Molly Hennen enjoy a picturesque moment on the waters of Lake Harriet. Lower left: Whoops! Am I losing my trunks? Unknown water enthusiast: 5. Smith. Lower right.- 5wimmers tend to lea ve a trail of belongings on the shore. Our canoeists are no exception. Wonder who these belong to? Anthony Albunf 3 -

Wetre Back! And Ready To Roll! School begins again. August 23 is far too early. We get to see our friends and loved ones again. Hi, I haventt seen you since the last day of school. You look different. The last time I saw you you had hair! Trying to remember things. A new locker combination to memo- rize. Argh! It still wont open! . . . Current news to gossip about. Do you know what so-and-so did this summer? . . . Getting too much homework. When's the next vaca- tion day? . . . In last August a mas- sive heatwave engulfs us. I don't care what they say. It's going to be 90 o , and I'm wearing shorts! . . . Skateboards are everywhere. Boys showing off on skateboards are out- Iawed! School wide protests, peti- tions, and the gradual disappear- ance of skateboards. Don't worry. we'll think of something else. How about unicycls? e Anthony Album
